And I'm much more of a winter person than a summer person. Layers are my thing.

On my list to survive freezing, dark mornings waiting for the train, like today is;

Nice (niace) warm hat and gloves
Flat boots smart enough for work but comfortable enough for walking in (keeping an eye on mum boots threads)
Lovely thick tights.
Bum covering warm waterproof coat.

Any recommendations?

Ooh yes to tights. I am v fond of tights! On my list this year so far are:

  • grey lace
  • seamed
  • something bonkers from Henry Holland perhaps (am thinking daggers or crosses or poodles or something equally ridiculous)
  • more M&S cashmere mix ones in black, pewter and maybe wine
  • lovely lovely opaques (my favourite)

And I wonder if my much the worse for wear tan boots are salvagable at the cobblers. Have had five years out of them but just can't let them go. :(

How much does it cost to get boots resoled/heeled? Mine are 3 years old, uber-practical, leather in great condition, so reluctant to bin recycle.

My local independent cobbler ( i's a bit like the elves and the shoemaker) charges about £15 for both.
Well worth it . He does a great job.

That's soling and heeling = £15

Marvellous. Will head to town later.
Apologies for thread hijack, will find some other winter loveliness to make up for it!
