I am having a fancy dress party for my 40th and have decided to go as a desperately seeking susan Madonna

Has anyone seen anything like this on sale recently? I've had a bit of a trawl online and am not finding anything. I actually really like the original boots!

I have always wanted to dress like her character too. Are u going to make the jacket with the gold pattern on the back. Hang on, doesn't she trade it in for the boots?

Not exactly, but not many people will remember the boots, just that they were studded boots. what about these

or, could you find some cheap boots the right shape and then add the studs yourself?

My daughter went as Madonna in Desperately Seeking Susan to a film themed fancy dress party and we got some pixie boots from eBay ( and a pair of black 80s trousers, cropped cream lace top, 80s bolero jacket which I customised with fabric paint and gold lame,the assorted crucifixes and bangles we bought from Claire's. I was not living vicariously through her at all. Oh no ) .

Thank you for your replies!! Indeed Toucan, she traded the jacket for the boots so strictly speaking it's an either or and I'm not sure I have the skills to create the jacket.

Links are good but I really want the fold over bit, maybe the solution is to try and find the right shape then customise.

I'm not sure I should be spending so much time thinking about this, the party is in November!

The jacket wasn't particularly hard to do, Docket, I looked for metallic paisley fabric to trim it but couldn't find it anywhere so just cut out pieces of gold lamé, stuck it onto the lapels, cuffs and a triangular piece on the back and painted swirls on it with black fabric paint. It wasn't very professional looking but it did the trick.

You've inspired me MsArseBiscuit, I will see if I can't assemble something approaching the real thing! Re the boots, I've found some old suede ankle ones which are sort of the right shape and are ripe for customisation! I guess it's about creating the overall look rather than a complete replica, I'm sure it will be okay. I can't wait!!!
