I googled - the world's most comfortable walking shoe!

Lottapianos · 28/08/2012 09:25

I am the Queen of Comfy Shoes dita - Clarks are my best friend. I gave up trying to make myself walk in fashionable shoes years ago and have never looked back Smile

What type of shoe are you looking for - trainer style? Walking style? For winter?

tethersend · 28/08/2012 09:30

Just ordered these on cod's recommendation on another thread. Reviews say they're very comfy; will report when they arrive.

thebestisyettocome · 28/08/2012 09:38

i got a pair of these in black when i was pregnant and couldn't do heels. They are so comfy and easy to put on when wrestling with bags / toddlers but fashionable they are not.

BegoniaBigtoes · 28/08/2012 09:42

Keens are the most comfortable shoes in the world for me and have made me so much happier the last few years, since I discovered them. They do a lot of outdoorsy styles but also some nice leather boots and sandals, converse style trainers etc. Depends on your feet though - mine are wide.

thebestisyettocome · 28/08/2012 09:43

These may be more suitable then All of the Hotter shoes are ultra comfortable apparently.

hiviolet · 28/08/2012 09:46

I'm with Lottapianos, I've given up on trying to wear killer heels and I'm now a real Clarks aficionado. I really don't know why they have such a frumpy reputation, I mean yes they do a lot of frumpy shoes but lots of VERY nice ones too!

nicknicknick · 28/08/2012 09:48

Birkenstock clogs, last for years and feel like slippers.

polyhymnia · 28/08/2012 10:14

Don't assume all Hotter shoes are comfortable. Not only are they super frumpy but the one time I tried a pair, in my usual size, for comfort purposes only, they shredded my feet and blighted my weekend's walking!! Feet were red raw and had to be swathed in plasters. Not nice.

SparkyTGD · 28/08/2012 10:17

Rieker and Ecco shoes are usually very comfortable, they're the brands I'd look for.

Lottapianos · 28/08/2012 10:18

Agree hiviolet. Some MNers run away screaming when you so much as breathe a word about Clarks, but they really do have some very nice shoes and boots. Their 'unstructured' range is particularly fab.

hiddenhome · 28/08/2012 11:20

I dislike Hotter shoes too. I chucked mine out Sad

DizzyBeeisSchoolShoeShopping · 28/08/2012 11:24

Try these:

www.hottershoes.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StaticPageDisplay?storeId=10551&identifier=Condition-Heel-Pain&catalogId=10601&langId=-1

I have a job where I walk around all day and they are so comfortable.

QueenieLovesEels · 28/08/2012 14:19

I have spent a small fortune in the quest for comfortable shoes and here's my verdict:

1st-Conker shoes. I bought the pull on boots with the poppers and vibram wedge sole. They are without a doubt the best shoes I have ever had. The leather is of a far superior quality, they are neat on the foot and they are really bouncy underfoot. I haven't had a blister once and the leather is like butter. They are not to everyone's taste and they are an investment purchase but they are the best. They last years and are repairable.

2nd- Birkenstocks. Soft footbed. Better to go for the birko-f tops as they are easier to break in.

3rd- Crocs- I am not a fan of the Swiss cheese ones but the malindi, olivia and Alice ones are really neat on the feet and don't look too obviously 'crocs'. If you are working in a hospital they might be your best bet as they are hygienic etc.

4th - Dr Martens authentic wedge boots once you break them in!

5th- Fly London wedges. Not heeled ones! Very good for a few hours.

It is worth looking at Amazon Warehouse for bargains. They say 'used' but I have bought several items and they have been pristine. I have bought things a fifth of the price at times.

HTH.

The Baoma range by Newfeel at Decathlon are incredibly comfy. Unfortunately this year all the styles are very 'mumsy'. I had some coral ones last year and got lots of compliments.

QueenCadbury · 28/08/2012 19:04

Hush puppies

lairymum99 · 28/08/2012 19:50

Birkenstocks - can't beat them! Unless you're wearing Crocs, of course. Granted, neither of them will ever win any style awards, but then you did ask for the most comfy shoes....

Gimblinginthewabe · 28/08/2012 19:54

I just bought some really comfy heels from Clarks, I should imagine they have flats in the same range. The inners are all paddy and lovely!

www.clarks.co.uk/p/20350770

These are mine. The range is called softwear.

MrsMeow · 28/08/2012 21:07

Clarks Unstructured shoes are by far the comfiest (and probably ugliest!) shoes I've ever worn. Ever.

I've had mine for work for about 3 years now and they've pounded many a hospital corridor and are only now looking a bit battered and will need replacing at some point.

LakeFlyPie · 28/08/2012 22:59

If it's truly comfort without a modicum of style you're after, I had these which saw me through a good few years of ward work in comfort.
(I've been known to be able to find some Clarks 'comfort' styles uncomfortable Confused)

Think I'll be going for these as my next pair of work shoes.
Already have a variety of hues for out of work wear and can walk miles in them without complaint.

SpringGoddess · 28/08/2012 23:11

I love Shoon for comfortable good looking shoes - not all are nice but I often find some beauties among the beasts. They are suggesting Mephisto are the best walking shoes, I don't own a pair.

Mephisto, think I might fancy these grey heeled beauties though.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 28/08/2012 23:13

Vivo Barefoot shoes are incredibly comfortable though possibly a bit ugly I bought a pair of their smart shoes for a funeral and was like wearing trainers
