Anyone else tried Boden style adviser?

I'm not usually a Boden fan but I got an email about the Boden style adviser so I tried it and the colours it picked out for me are hideous.
One of them was khaki and if I ever wear khaki my skin takes on the greenish palour of someone who is about to be violently sea sick, the others weren't much better.

Anyone else tried it?
Were the suggestions useful?

My children use it to play with!

pootle123 · 27/08/2012 20:38

Yes, was lured by the promise of the £100 prize draw. Put in my stats - height, weight and the size I normally am in oasis. Went to have a look at what they recommend and I have never seen such a collection of over priced, hideous clothes. To add insult to injury they recommend I go up 2 sizes.

hattymattie · 27/08/2012 20:52

They recommended the things I said I didn't like Confused

lizbee156 · 27/08/2012 21:04

pootle That's what happened to me too! I put in my stats, I'm a 10/12 and now it keeps saying I should order stuff in a 14!
The things it is recommending are grim and it doesn't recommend a coat I actually do like Hmm
It's a shame for them, if it had been good they could have picked up a customer here.
northern that's a good idea, I will let DD have a play with it instead!

lizbee I'm exactly the same! Has Johnnie never heard of the concept of vanity sizing Grin I have no idea why he thought I would like a green smock, when all I said I liked was a breton top (after a lot of searching). Even if I was tempted by some of the stuff in Grazia, the sizing issue has put me off!

theoriginalandbestrookie · 27/08/2012 21:26

Ooh I didn't know such a thing existed I am off to play with it.

Northernlurkerisonholiday · 27/08/2012 21:51

It was quite funny really. Dictated I shouldn't wear bold patterns. Now I like a tasteful pattern or two and as I'm a size 22 I know damn well that the size of the pattern is not going to make the difference between making me look like a size 22 or 14! Anyway the stiff it recommended for me would be awful with my big chest - which I told them about! - and was dull.

BonnieBumble · 27/08/2012 21:54

Just had a go, it's not bad actually.

bisjolympics · 27/08/2012 22:05

The style advisor described my style as effortlessly elegant and then made clothing suggestions that would make me look like a bag lady Hmm. It included all the choices that I had clicked 'dislike'. Bizarre.

MrsShrek3 · 27/08/2012 22:11

Boden Style = oxymoron

Grin
bisjolympics · 27/08/2012 22:12

MrsShrek exactly what I was thinking Grin

flowery · 27/08/2012 22:18

Didn't see anything where it said what size I should take in something.

I told it my least favourite colour was black and it recommended a load if black stuff Hmm and it also recommended a couple of things I'd specifically said I disliked.

bisjolympics · 27/08/2012 22:56

When you choose an item from the random rubbish it has suggested that is when you see the size. Everything it recommended to me was in a smaller size than I wear - maybe there is a hidden diet incentive in there too. Hmm

wildfig · 28/08/2012 08:33

I'm glad it wasn't just me who had the 'go up a size' thing. I told it I was a 12/M in all the options, but it recommended everything in a 14. I mean, I expect passive aggressive customer service from designer shops but not at 8.30am on my own laptop...

SpringGoddess · 28/08/2012 08:35

I was recommend a size 14 too, normally a size 10 - lots of icky clothes, not exactly my idea of style.

bisjolympics · 28/08/2012 08:49

It said that my style was like Sophia Loren. The only way she'd wear the choice of clothes they recommended would be with a bag on her head.

wildfig · 28/08/2012 09:03

Johnnie needs to have a think about his customer service approach. Between the constant needy 'why don't you looooovvvvveeeeeee mmmmeeeee anymore?' mailshots and now this 'you're fatter than you think, love' business, it's like buying clothes from my university boyfriend. Who was also quite keen on me wearing frumpy skirts like his mum.

MissBoPeep · 28/08/2012 09:32

I just tried it.

Although I ticked red as a colour I don't like, it came up with True Red as an option for clothes Confused

About 50% of what I had ordered already came up- although I have returned 90% of the order anyway.

I was surprised that it came up with so many fairly shapeless tops when I am small /petite.

It's just a computer program at the end of the day- not a real person.
