I have just sent my cv off so I am hoping to be inundated with interview offers forever th optimist
I am going for receptionist jobs in hotels.

What can you recommend as a good interview outfit. I can't afford a lot. But not sure whether trousers or skirt or dress would be right.

I am a 10-12 5'8 or 9 well tanned at the moment as in Greece.

I will be needing them in November when I am back.

Oh I was just about to post a similar question! I'm looking for admin jobs and my "interview suit" is a bit cheap and boring looking. Watching this one with interest.

You could wear a bin bag and look fine by the sounds of it Envy not helpful
Depending on your budget-

With a white long sleeved top?

Or, more expensive, but I bet it would look gorgeous with a tan-

Also very [jealous]

This is gorgeous - very simple but would last for ages and is slightly away from the normal interview black. You can get a MN discount I think for IO so would be about 10% less.

Or this is a bargain but have a look at some of the other clearance dresses as well which might be suitable.

Good luck!

Remember Zara and charity shops. If you have some time for browsing, you can find great interview outfits there. I sometimes interview people and rate good cloth and great fiber - please don't do nasty shiny synthetics. I'd love to see a silk blouse, pencil skirt or even a suit on an interviewee - they would show that you are making an effort and really interested. Dress okay too but more informal and not necessarily conveying a go getter personality.

Greekstartedit · 26/08/2012 20:35

Thanks but a lot of that is out of my price range. I am trying to as cheap as possible.

I love this skirt www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/uk/en/zara-W2012/269188/862529/PENCIL%20SKIRT%20WITH%20SPLITS

What could I wear with it? I am in Greece till November so am wondering about the cold too as I will probably feel it a lot when I come over.

Great skirt. I just bought a tailored velvet blazer in a thrift shop for 20 euros. Really recommend charity shopping - the jacket I found is an unworn quality piece that would retail for 200 to 500 euros. If you can find a 2nd hand tailored jacket and feel comfortable in it, go for it - you'll need it in November. I found a nice cotton mix boucle jacket in Zara for 20 or 30 euros a few weeks ago. A cardigan is also possible but would feel less smart. The other possibility is a silk blouse (polyester in a pinch - but it can feel sweaty and nasty).

In the US, there are lots of companies and charities that donate / sell interview clothes. You might also want to think what you would wear if you got the job - get something you can wear while working?

Greekstartedit · 26/08/2012 20:51

Could I wear a different colour blazer with that skirt or would it look mix and match wrong??

Yes, different color blazer would be fine.

ineedsomepeaceandquiet · 27/08/2012 17:54

I conduct interviews everyday and think that a well cut plain dress is a great look. Gap do great ones, as do next and Sainsburys. Hope that helps Smile

Thanks all for your help. I am going to wait till I am back in UK so I can try on a smart dress rather than getting over t'internet do I can make sure it is a good fit.
Might have to go and see for that Zara skirt with a nice shirt too Grin
