Saw this today in New Look and liked it but is it wearable by a 42 year old please? Am only just getting to grips with new styles having come out of pregnancy/baby haze so any thoughts welcome:

I'm not an S&B regular, so do take my opinion with a pinch of salt - there are people with far more style than me on here and I shall defer to their wisdom should they happen along Smile.

But for what my two pennorth is worth, I think it depends how you wear it. It would be fine if it was styled like this for example, but not if it was with leggings and heels. Is it quite see through? In which case you need a strappy vest to wear under it I think...

becstargazeypie · 25/08/2012 18:53

(Sorry, click through to the picture of the outfit the model is wearing, not just the t-shirt itself)

cocolepew · 25/08/2012 18:57

I'm 43 and wear skull stuff, got lovely blingy skull earrings

MrsLettuce · 25/08/2012 19:00

WHat they said!

lizmarshmallow · 25/08/2012 19:03

Oooo I love it, this might be my first S&B purchase! Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/08/2012 19:19

Love the styling in Bec's post but am afraid that I think the t-shirt in the OP is absolutely hideous. Sorry. I have nothing against skulls at all but I think that one looks really tacky.

pictish · 25/08/2012 19:22

No it is not mutton! I love it!

busyboysmum · 25/08/2012 19:27

Excellent, thanks all. That styling is really useful, are those slim leg jeans worn over ankle boots? I was wondering how to wear them as they seem to suit my legs better than skinnies.

Glad skulls aren't mutton - I do like them myself.

Like the shape of the top, but that's about it

Yama · 25/08/2012 19:30

I would wear that and I'm 36.

HildaHotPants · 25/08/2012 19:39

I think it's a bit teenager-ish tbh. Sorry.

tanfastic · 25/08/2012 19:44

I'm 39 and wouldn't wear it. I would consider it too young for me to be honest.

PoshPaula · 25/08/2012 21:06

I'm 43 - wouldn't wear it.

Murraylover · 25/08/2012 21:11

& saw the scull shorts in store Blush

novelsituation · 25/08/2012 21:12

43 and wouldn't wear. Have worn skull scarf though.

Pudden · 25/08/2012 21:12

I can see it worn by a sullen 15 year old with drawn on eyebrows and sweptover hair but not by a 42 year old...sorry!

iliketea · 25/08/2012 21:16

I hope it's not mutton. I'm 35 and have the white with grey skulls version - i love it and wear it with jeans.

busyboysmum · 25/08/2012 21:21

I would wear it casual with jeans but for those who wouldn't wear it, is it the skulls, the shape or the style of top? I liked it cos it was sparkly as well but am not known for my fashion sense so what do I know?

Just testing the waters here, looking like a no-go, could I wear skulls in another style or do we oldies have to forsake such trends?

MoaningMingeWhingesAgain · 25/08/2012 21:24

36 here. I wouldn't wear it. I quite like skulls, but it is see through, polyester, with diamante on it. It would probably wash really badly old fogey I am

tanfastic · 25/08/2012 21:25

Ok I don't mind the shape (looks like it would hide a multitude of sins which is always good in my case). I don't like the skulls or diamanté embellishment. I'd wear skull print very subtly on something like a belt or scarf but not on a top. Maybe if I was 20.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/08/2012 21:28

I wouldn't wear it because:

  • it's polyester
  • it's blingy, and cheap looking
  • it overdoes the skulls: one skull is okay but lots of them look too much
  • skulls should be edgy not blingy/sparkly imho
Specialbrew · 25/08/2012 21:33

I'm 40, i like the shape, and like the blue and the cream colour-ways, black would be a bit goth for me. If worn with non-mutton clothes, it wouldn't be muttony at all! Skinny or straight leg jeans with ankle boots. Get it!
