Never really used foundation, what do I use?

Never really needed it, but I have Lupus and the butterfly rash is more noticeable the older I get.

I have bought a mineral green concealer, which works with a avon foundation over.

BUT within hours it feels 'claggy' and greasy and I want to wash it off

Come on ladies help!

Think you might need Havingkittens but in the meantime, do you think it would be worth using a very sheer natural foundation and then a decent concealer over the top, just where you need the rash covering ? So maybe ( and this is the dear option, only because it's my favourite at the moment ) YSL Touché Éclat Founation with a bit of Vichy Dermablend to conceal . There's also Estée Lauder Doublewear Foundation which has pretty comprehensive coverage, I wasn't keen as it was too much for me but may do the job for you.

There are so many different foundations. What's your budget? What's your skin type? Dry, oily?

very oily, and I cant wear alot of creams and such as they seem to make my eyes sore, things like anti aging creams are a definite no no.

Budget? under about £50.00?

Mineral makeup. Lily lolo is great. Easy to
Apply and good coverage. Lots of shades too so you should find one for you.

They do great concealer and they do a green one for redness.

I suffer from rosacea so need to cover lots of redness. I actually find their yellow concealer (called Peepo - meant for dark circles) better than the green one. It sort of cancels out the redness better and then apply the foundation over.

Mineral foundation works well for oily skin and should last all day.

Another great one is Inika mineral foundation. Theirs covers so well even I don't need concealer. I like it a lot as its very soft to apply (rosacea makes my face sore at times). However they have fewer shades and I find theirs only works for me during the summer. The paler shades for winter looks odd on me. You may have more luck. John Lewis sell Inika.

Lots and lots of Mners like Bare Minerals. You may too. It has good concealers and coverage. But not for me as it made my face sore and even more red.

Hope that helps

Okay, I have very oily skin. Personally didn't get on with mineral foundation. Found it very itchy and actually just turned into an oily mess after a few hours. A few of my personal favourites are Vichy Dermablend ( available in Boots ) especially as a concealer. Estee Lauder Double Wear and double wear light. Guerlain Parure Extreme ( expensive option but beautiful ) and as a cheapie option, Rimmel 25 hours or Bourjouis healthy mix serum.

I primer is very good for oily skin too. MAC spf 50 prep and prime really helps foundation stay on.

If you've never worn foundation before it might be worth checking out youtube for tutorials. Application can make a world of difference, especially with something like Estee Lauder. It can look cakey and thick, but if applied very sparingly can look lovely. Lisa Eldrige is a good place to start on youtube. Search through her videos.

Anyway, the right foundation is a bugger to find for people with oily skin. Those are a few that work pretty well for me.
