Aveda highlights - bleach?

Hello, hoping someone might be able to give me a bit of info. Getting a bit disheartened with my usual salon (there's only so many times you can finish off your own fringe with kitchen scissors when you get home after a haircut because they haven't listened to what you asked for!). There's an Aveda salon next door to them which has been recommended by someone I know, and it's cheaper than my current place surprisingly, so I'm considering giving it a go. I was pretty sure I heard they don't use bleach though, which is what my hair is pretty much currently highlighted with, that and another slightly warmer blonde. I really like how it looks and would like the same result - would they be able to achieve this without using bleach? Dont really want to waste their time going in for a consultation only to be told it's impossible! Thanks in advance for any advice.

I used to go to AVEDA, it was the best hair colour I ever had (blonde) unfortunately not one near me now. As far as I know they most definitely used bleach... they are very good (usually very expensive though!)

Excellent, thanks for that! this one is so not expensive, £60 for half head!

Well you must go for it - they are great (and I am really paranoid about hairdressers) I used them in Rome and Montreal manty times - both salons the same standard and fab. Try and get a recommended colourist though - or ask for the top/next to top one. Smile

Yes! Mine are Aveda 'Dawn' - Hi -Lift colour, best highlights I've ever had!

I love my aveda colour. Can't sing the praises of aveda colours highly enough and I have darker hair which has blonde highlights so no matter how they do it the stuff can change the colour hugely. My old salon changed from aveda years ago(cos it didn't used to colour grey) but didn't tell us. My hair got frizzier and frizzier until I asked what had changed! Swapped to new hairdresser who uses aveda and will ever go back again. It's fab stuff!

Thanks all, I'm sold!

I used to work in an Aveda Concept salon and they do a product which is basically a more natural and less damaging version of bleach. It does the same thing as bleach. Their high lift tints are also good. The hairdresser you see should know which product to use to get the result you want.

I used to get my hair peroxide blonde with the Aveda Enlightener (their version of 'bleach') and it lifts really well.
