Autumn/winter shop.

Off to the shops tomorrow for my A/w/post maternity spree.

However, i find that in my 4 year fashion hiatus (2nd dc), bootcut trousers no longer cut it as wonder trousers.

I assume pencil skirts are still around, so ok there; and shirts are...shirts?

So what should I be looking for? I'm dizzy at the idea of a. freedom, b. not having to wonder whetehr I'll still fit it after babies and c.choice.

I would get a good pair of skinny / slim jeans to update your look.
Grey or navy cashmere sweater.
Lots of nice fitted denim shirts about at the moment.
Khaki chinos will see you through autumn.
Leather biker style jacket.
Get some heeled ankle boots
French Connection has some nice jersey type dresses
decent breton
nice handbag
some nice scarves

Are you in search of work stuff, or home, or both?

Astr0naut · 24/08/2012 19:06

Work stuff. It's trousers I'm really bemused by. I've pretty much been wearing the same ones since I started, 9 years ago, because if I have to choose, I'll buy skirts and dresses.

I'm a terrible impulse/sales buyer, so consequently find that I have lots of things I can only wear with a couple of other things.

Gap has 30% off everything at the moment and has some lovely clothes in at the moment. Loads of nice jumpers, skirts, jeans, jackets - I could have spent a fortune in there today!

PlumSykes · 24/08/2012 19:51

Do you need a voucher, Dex, or do they just do it at the till?

azazello · 24/08/2012 19:54

Pencil skirts are still good. Banana Republic do lots of very nice trousers and have some good sales. Zara is also good. Blazers seem to be very popular at the moment - gap, topsoil and Zara all gave some nice ones and can dress up a skirt/ trousers shirt combo.

azazello · 24/08/2012 19:55

Gap do the voucher at the till. It's ace.

dexter73 · 24/08/2012 19:59

It's just done at the till. There are little signs around telling you how stuff will be with the discount.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/08/2012 20:24

Topsoil? :)

Lots of nice pencil skirts around, including ones in snazzy colours and patterns.

How about a plain black jersey or stiff cotton blazer? Smart enough for work but okay with jeans too.

If you see any really lovely slim leg work trousers, please come back on here and tell me!

I did my shop. Spent an hour in Primark Blush and, must be getting super tight after mat leave, as I didn't find things as cheap as I thought they'd be. Did get a pair of nude shoes for a tenner though.Oh, and some beigey skinny jeans.

Maybe I need to try again in a few weeks, or maybe the shops in CHester a bit behind, but I did seem to be struggling to find 'new' stuff as opposedto end of sumer stuff. And of course, black trousers are all geared towards back to school.

However, I did end up with pair of cropped, slim leg black trousers from H&M, whihc I thought quite brave. I did have to ask the women in the shop whetehr they looke cropped or half-mast though!

Still waiting for the pencil skirts to put in an appearance round here. Mind you, it's easier to buy skirts online. Trousers are more difficult. On the plus side, I now have an excuse for another passout in a few weeks!
