I have gone sequin crazy. I seem to fall for anything with bling.
Is it age or are these bits from Zara and again from Zara as lovely as I think?
I don't want to be one of those gilded-up women I remember from childhood, anyone know what I mean? All I said I would never be...Confused

I found a dress for my brothers wedding that's coming up that's all sequins, sort of dull grey ones. Everyone has thought it sounded terrible until they saw it!

MsArseBiscuit · 24/08/2012 21:04

I wave my sequinned arse in their general direction - bit like Agincourt but with added shezzzammmm .

BlueBump, your dress sounds gorgeous.

dexter73 · 24/08/2012 21:07

I think one of my ancestors may have been a magpie which has caused my love of shiny things!

bluebump · 24/08/2012 21:09

Thanks! Even better is that it was £20 down from £70. I like a shiny bargain!

littlepie · 24/08/2012 21:32

Oh this is me too! I keep thinking at my age I should go for neutral, elegant chic. But I can't and don't want to.

Now are these a step too far?

glitter boots

or shall I buy?

MrsCampbellBlack · 24/08/2012 21:34

I am more Real Housewife chic than Parisian chic

MsArseBiscuit · 24/08/2012 21:40

Littlepie, will you glance down at your glittery heels on a dull, drab, dreary day and feel your heart lift a little ? If so, you know what you have to do .....

MrsCB, in my mind's eye you swan about looking perma-glamorous

PlumSykes · 25/08/2012 17:36

So today, I referred to 'my Joan Collins life', meaning my fantasy life, where I lie poolside in a kaftan, and one of those stretchy turbans. The person of was talking to clearly thought I was quite mad, but ANYWAY, it got me thinking that that is my kind of icon. A hard-drinking woman of the world, in leopard-print and too much lipstick. I'd rather be friends with her than a chilly Paris type.

VerityBrulee · 25/08/2012 19:28

I have more than my fair share of sparkly stuff in my wardrobe, nothing better on a grey day IMO

littlepie just to give you some choice...Aldo they come in black too Smile

MrsCampbellBlack · 25/08/2012 19:52

I love Joan Collins - I adore a bit of glamour and putting the hard work into looking good.

ifancyashandy · 25/08/2012 20:02

Oh, I am well in touch with my inner Barbara Cartland! At the risk of outing myself, I wore sequined trousers to my 40th birthday do. Which started with lunch at 1pm... That jacket is a thing of beauty.

MrsCampbellBlack · 25/08/2012 20:05

As Dexter put it on another thread 'we is wicked cool'

I would slowly d

MrsCampbellBlack · 25/08/2012 20:06

I would slowly die of boredom if all I wore was ballet flats, slim legged trousers and an understated top a la french chic.

MrsCampbellBlack · 25/08/2012 20:07

Plus I'm too short to do ballet flats and would look more oompa loompa than Audrey.

VerityBrulee · 25/08/2012 20:31

Agreed mrscb any look is boring when you wear it every day, I don't see the appeal of a capsule wardrobe.

More fun to take a dressing up approach, Parisienne gamine one day, Las Vegas showgirl the next!

alwaysrunninginheels · 25/08/2012 20:36

Now need las Vegas showgirl outfit ideas Grin

MrsCampbellBlack · 25/08/2012 20:49

A sequin g-string and some feathers.

Looks at Verity in a whole new light Wink

VerityBrulee · 25/08/2012 20:59

Wait till you see Grin

PretzelTime · 25/08/2012 21:04

Sequins reminds me of children's craft time - those buggers end up everywhere!
So sequin jumpers are kind of a wear-once and never wash affair :/

MrsCampbellBlack · 25/08/2012 21:05

Verity ready for the school run

PlumSykes · 25/08/2012 21:06

MrsCB, I once saw Joanie in Selfridges. I was struck dumb by her fabulousness. She was in a wig AND a hat. She apparently ALWAYS sleeps in a bra, and takes her moisturiser down below her cleavage.

VerityBrulee · 25/08/2012 21:34

Well, close mrscb but I'd have to pop my mink coat on when the weather turns!

MsArseBiscuit · 25/08/2012 21:39

I salute Joanie too, no understatement with her. In my ideal word my look would be pilfered direct from the video for Lady Marmalade from Moulin Rouge - I would be lolling on a scarlet velvet chaise longue in provocative fin de siècle underwear and diamonds. I think, however, it would cause a stir in Waitrose.

Catsmamma · 25/08/2012 21:43

i like the black jumper/cardi?? Has she got it on backwards for effect?

I used to do that in the eighties.

Also not averse to a bit of leopard print.
