Need some smart yet sexy clothes for work...

After 3 years of the most heinous, eye rapey polyester uniform, we have been told we can wear what we like. I'm desperate to look smart and sexy at work for a change! It's a hospital, so rules are: nothing too short, nothing too bright and not much clevage.

Oh, I'm a size 14, short (5'3") with short legs. Hourglassy figure with a small ish waist, but ridiculously big boobs, which I'm very self concious about so I'd like something to flatter my figure.

Help me oh wise ones Grin

Try pepperberry for boob flattering dresses. I've got a couple of really nice jersey dresses that flatter (I'm similar build to you) but not too cleavagey.

MrsLettuce · 23/08/2012 22:20

Ah, found you!

Pepperyberry can be very nice, always good photos of human females (as opposed to models) on their FB page too.

I''ll have a rummage for you

BlueSuedeStiletto · 23/08/2012 22:26

Ta. Smile

Is pepperberry from the people who make Bravissimo? I rather heart their bras. I went for a fitting in one of their shops. I thought I was a 36F. Turns out I'm actually a 36HH! Shock Blush

Blimey! That's always a shock!

So, what do you like? What suits you? Colouring?

great shape - magenta
formal but (too?) sexy?

Other than bravissimo it's just trial and error, sadly (IME). One sure bet is to buy dresses you like and have them taken in on the waist and hips.

BIWI · 23/08/2012 22:41

eye rapey?

What a horrible expression. Are you aware of the campaigning MN is doing about rape?

Please don't use words like this in such a trivial way Sad

BlueSuedeStiletto · 23/08/2012 23:06

Oh, BIWI. Sorry, I didn't think Sad It's just a phrase used on a comedy show I used to watch. Apologies of it caused you (or anyone) offence. In my work words and phrases like that are often trivialised and made light of. None of us mean it, or find the actual situations funny, it is a coping mechanism for some of the terrible things we see, and when I was raped I fell back on that and tend to make light of it too IYSWIM. But I appriciate not everyone would take it that way out of that environment and not knowing me or my background.

Sorry my love. Thanks

Ooh, MrsLettuce I luff the magenta, but alas, too bright for work. The second one is awesome though, very much my thing.

I've got very pale skin (bit of a tan, but t'will soon fade) and long-ish hair, currently highlighted blonde and caramel in a non stripey way. Light blue eyes. I tend to go for a slightly 50s/body con style for dresses, lots of cinched waists. And usually a bit of cleavage but can't do that.for work!. I struggle with trousers due to the short legs and obviously shirts can be an issue with the boon situation!

I came to this thread just after I'd been reading one of the rape threads, Blue, so sorry if I jumped on you.

sleepdodger · 23/08/2012 23:30

Try gok plenum dress at sainos v flattering to waist high necks to cover norms and skins over tummy too Smile

iamabadger · 23/08/2012 23:35

What do you actually do? I'm a nurse who doesn't have to wear uniform and believe me sexy is not what you want. The novelty soon wears off the first time you kneel down by a patient's bed and flash your arse or your skirt rips!

BlueSuedeStiletto · 23/08/2012 23:47

BIWI No problem at all, I've had a lot of counselling and am mostly fine, but believe me if I was having a down day I would probably have done the same. Tbh I'm newish and haven't been able to look at any of the rape threads yet. Not brave enough- afraid of undoing good work and it was a complicated situation so my biggest fear is not being believed.

badger arf at skirt ripping! I'm half an A&E clerk and half a family liaison rep dealing with relatives of patients. So minimal bending over beds. I was thinking sexy in an understated office chic kind of way. Not a "Secretary" way. It's just a novelty to look nice at work!

I believe you

BlueSuedeStiletto · 23/08/2012 23:58

Thanks BIWI. I'm sure you know how much that means.
