Shall I tell you what I bought in Long Tall Sally today?

Precisely nothing.
Even with 10% off there was nothing.

I'd earmarked a few things in the catalogue, but when I saw it in RL , I didn't even bother trying it on.

Overpriced and very frumpy.

Everyone entitled to their opinion, mine is this....

I used to buy quite a few things from LTS because if i'm being honest there wasn't anywhere else to shop for a size 18 6 footer. I had no interest in fashion as the choice in the high street was so poor I felt like a freak! But things have changed slowly and while there still isn't a massive selection (and hardly any in store - rant for another thread), there ARE alternatives, fashionable ones that don't cost the earth.

I think LTS did a sterling job at one time, but I agree that some of their patterns are downright awful, its not the best fabric quality & it is V expensive! Maybe, maybe if I wanted to invest in a suit for work I would look there...but I want FASHION and a CHOICE that isn't going to cost the earth.

I would happily start shopping again at LTS if things changed.

thenightsky · 29/08/2012 21:21

I tried a dress on in the Nottingham shop that I'd had my eye on in the catalogue. Even the assistant could disguise the look of fright in her eyes when she saw me in it Sad

Some of the dresses look lovely and tempting, but when you see them in RL the fabric is dreadful.

HoopDePoop · 29/08/2012 21:32

Ok BigOle , you're a 'happy and grateful customer'. Because women like us should be grateful , dammit Grin

bronze · 29/08/2012 21:56

I think the only thing that needs to be said to them is 'catch up'

PeriPathetic · 29/08/2012 22:08

I've had to shop at LTS since forever - when their only stores were in Bath & London. Once upon a time the clothes were extremely good quality; still expensive, but well worth it.

Not any more. Hideous styles, dreadful quality, vile colours and seriously, empire line dresses on tall women? Why? I haven't brought anything much from there in years. Oh, leggings last winter and yoga pants are all I get nowadays. And don't get me started on the sizing! So variable.

Premium jeans from Donna Ida are brilliant, cost a bomb, but well worth it. None of the high street store items fit me.

Unfortunately, there are no few places I can find sleeves long enough. And I desperately need a smart mid-length winter jacket/coat.

I do wish someone would open a properly competetive store. I'd pay for good quality, well designed and flattering clothes.

peggyblackett · 29/08/2012 22:27

Well, I have just taken receipt of two beautiful dresses from...Next. Having spent the past 10 years being very rude and disparaging about Next I have been pleasantly surprised. The fit is good, the designs are on trend and both dresses were£40 each. Bargainous by LTS standards.

peggyblackett · 29/08/2012 22:28

Plus there is CHOICE. I think there are over 30 dresses in their tall range at the moment.

AuntAda · 29/08/2012 22:34

Oh yes, and the other thing that pisses me off about LTS is that their running leggings are cropped. Cropped! FFS, I can get the cropped looked anywhere just by buying clothes meant for normal people. If I'm looking at LTS it's because I specifically want ones that DON'T finish 2 inches above my ankle. Fail.

Dur.

DorothyGherkins · 29/08/2012 22:58

That s made me laff, Aunt Ada, they hadnt thought that one through, had they. I have friends who going clothes shopping "for fun" - I wonder what that must feel like?

peggyblackett · 29/08/2012 22:59

:o Aunt Ada

marmalade10 · 30/08/2012 08:35

I can only say again NO NO NO I dont work for LTS but as I am destined to be marked a a "troll" now, who cares!! :) I also love Next tall (although I have received some dubious quality from time to time) and find I often get cardi's long enough in the arm from various places on the high street. For me its legs that are the issue! I have ordered some wide leg black trousers from LTS so we shall see what they are like when they arrive! Im dipping out of this debate now as my day job as managing director of an "unknown" tall clothing firm calls!! ha ha!

marmalade10 · 30/08/2012 08:39

P.s someone said on here earlier that they wished someone from LTS was posting so they could listen to the comments and make changes. Why don't you contact them and ask them to read the comments and respond if you feel so passionately about it?!Just a thought!

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 30/08/2012 09:14

ah yes, the"leisure wear" Angry

yes, LTS may do cotton fleecy jogging bottoms. Which go baggy as there is not enough elastane in them.
Why don't they do proper gym trousers in the right material..it's a nightmare trying to find them in a long length.

On a positive note..the pj bottoms are lovely. I am very pleased with those, and also the fact you can buy them separately.

Coat wise....I find Crew jackets to be long in the sleeve, and my "posh" winter coat is from Esprit.
But it's not a full length coat..I have a Berghaus padded job for that, again, really long in the arms.

Northumberlandlass · 30/08/2012 12:08

BigOleBird · 30/08/2012 18:46

HoopDePoop, I dont expect all woman like us to be grateful, no ....... But I am....Each to their own ;-)

DianaLongTallSally · 31/08/2012 10:15

It's been great to see so much passionate feedback about Long Tall Sally. Here at head office we are working really hard to develop clothing that fits our tall customers.

We are the market leader for tall clothing and appreciate how challenging it can be to find clothes that fit when you are tall. The collection has been very successful, especially with denim jeans, trousers and tailoring where we know how hard it is for our customer to buy these successfully elsewhere, but we are always keen to hear feedback.

Jane, buying director and myself, head of buying, have 50 years experience of working in fashion between us. We previously worked at Warehouse and Oasis where Jane was also buying director.

We would be happy to invite some of you to our store to try some things on and give us your feedback personally.

naturalbaby · 31/08/2012 11:23

Yes please Diana! There was a small store near my which has closed so I really miss being able to go and try stuff on and have a proper browse in a store.

peggyblackett · 31/08/2012 11:35

Yes please from me (provided it could be a Sat as I'm about to return to work - meh)!

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 31/08/2012 12:51

Hi DianaLTS, and well done for coming onto this thread! I am in Aberdeenshire and was disappointed that your store near John Lewis in Aberdeen closed, are there any plans to open one near here again?

I would be happy to travel to Glasgow or Edinburgh store to give feedback (and get a day to myself!). I am only 5'8 but it's all in my legs so I can def give feedback on the bottom halfs. Grin

Northumberlandlass · 31/08/2012 13:06

Hi Diana - thanks for coming to MN. I would love the opportunity to come into a store, unfortunately for me the nearest store would be Edinburgh or York - I live 20 miles from Newcastle.

AuntAda · 31/08/2012 13:41

I'm in London, I'd be more than happy to come to a store and try stuff on. Smile

DorothyGherkins · 31/08/2012 14:33

Yes, I could come to a Manchester store if invited! So glad you came here Diana, it s nice to be listened to.

WinkyWinkola · 31/08/2012 15:32

I too would love to assist by trying on lots of clothes!
