I have the most fabulous bright red lipstick and it really suits me - makes me feel great too. But, I'm having a bit of a crisis of confidence. Is it twatish to wonder about in the day wearing it? Y' know, supermarket, school run, bins out

Oh, 'crisis' caused by DP saying it looked good but was a bit shocking Hmm. Couldn't explain what he meant when pressed...

If it looks good and makes you feel great - where's the problem exactly?!! Wear the lipstick, girl, and kick ass! Smile

Trills · 23/08/2012 14:36

Why not?

Hopefully · 23/08/2012 14:36

I wear bright red pretty much daily. If you like it, go for it!

ThisTooShallPass · 23/08/2012 14:41
Grin

People look, makes me wonder if it's cause I look a nutter.

I wear red lipstick almost daily, it's my signature look now and people comment if I don't wear it now.

If it makes you feel great go for it!

HomeEcoGnomist · 23/08/2012 14:44

I am wearing a whole bright red DRESS today!

Definitely wear it

ThisTooShallPass · 23/08/2012 14:49

Yes, you're all right

ThisTooShallPass · 23/08/2012 15:10

Hopefully & Stella - what do you wear? The colour of mine is perfect but it doesn't last that long.

OP posts:
LeslieKnope · 23/08/2012 15:11

I wear red lippy almost every day.

And I never wear trousers.

Long live glam Grin

ThisTooShallPass · 23/08/2012 15:14

No, no trousers here either Wink

I wear a House of Colour one - means I know it's flattering.

Nothing worse than a blue-red on a warm toned person. Or an orange red on a cool person IMO.

Hopefully · 23/08/2012 15:14

But I do wear trousers Grin

StellaAndFries · 23/08/2012 15:37

My new favourite red lippy was recommended to me on here, it's maybelline 18hour superstay in passionate red and it lasts all day without needing any touch ups. It doesn't transfer either which is fab :)

SunWukong · 23/08/2012 15:43

I wear anything I damn well like any time of the day.

auldspinster · 23/08/2012 17:01

I wear red lippy most days with flicky liquid eyeliner.

Pandsbear · 23/08/2012 17:31

I don't wear bright red every day but several times per week. Always makes me feel more 'dressed'.

QueenCadbury · 23/08/2012 21:10

Go for it. I would love to wear red lippy but sadly it always seems to make me look tarty rather than classy.

wellwisher · 23/08/2012 21:13

I am a big fan of bright lipstick for daytime. I think the secret is not to wear any eye makeup. I do eyebrow pencil, concealer and blusher but nothing on my eyes except clear mascara. I think it's more chic this way and stops me looking too done up also saves loads of time as lips are much faster to do than eyes

DonaAna · 23/08/2012 21:39

I do naked eye bright lips all the time.
Am possibly too pale for full-on red but do fuchsia and bright raspberry a lot. Current faves Cambon & L'Exuberante by Chanel.
Normally go for matte but pink Gloss d'Armani is great on top too.

ThisTooShallPass · 23/08/2012 23:24

Thank you all! Most enlightening. I have indeed been wearing liquid eyeliner (with a nudeish eyeshadow and mascara). Thinking about it that might just be why I'm feeling a bit unsure - I do indeed feel a bit over done. Shall try without the eyeliner tomorrow.

The mabaline superstay sounds great, would you say it was more or less a true red? I'm afraid I've no idea if I have a warm or cool complexion so that's what I try to go with.

OP posts:
StellaAndFries · 24/08/2012 08:16

Yes it's definitely a true red :)

coffeeinbed · 24/08/2012 08:20

Every day, unless in the summer.
Does not look right on me with a tan.

ThisTooShallPass · 24/08/2012 11:13

Brill, I'll 'ave some of that then. Thanks stella. Does it need a lipliner? WHich do you use?

ThisTooShallPass · 24/08/2012 11:15

I've not tried the toned down eyes and red lips yet. We've been struck down by (light) D&V. Oh the joy...
