I think you are supposed to add a few drops of nail varnish remover. Add them in, shake the bottle and it should be thinner and not so clumpy.

TBH I dont know how reliable this is - I just know I have read it somewhere!

Tinkerisdead · 21/08/2012 22:14

Yes I've done as above and it worked just fine.

Aquelven · 21/08/2012 22:43

Thinners.
OPI do them, there may be others.

Krumbum · 21/08/2012 23:39

Nooo! Don't add nail polish remover. It works for a little while but then fucks it up. You will ruin your polish if you do that.
You need nail polish thinner. It is sold in Sally hair and beauty. The best one is seche restore but the cheaper ones are good too. Slowly add drops in and shake until it becomes the right consistency again.
Thinner replaces the chemicals that have evaporated from the polish and caused it to thicken. Remover just well, removes!

Try putting it in the fridge first, can help.

SunWukong · 22/08/2012 00:53

I thought you are meant to put them in a bowl of water over a a pan of hot water and heat them up?.

BlueSuedeStiletto · 22/08/2012 00:57

Don't put NV remover in! It'll kill it. There is something you should add, but I can't remember for the life of me what it is...! Irritating.

And now I realise there was not much point me posting this. So, to redeem myself I will tell you that a couple of drops of contact lens solution (or mild salt water) in a dried up mascara will rescue it and prolong its life considerably! Grin

SunWukong · 22/08/2012 01:03

salt water? wouldn't that get in your eyes? I heard olive oil.

BlueSuedeStiletto · 22/08/2012 01:08

Contact lens solution IS just mild salt water. It's basically the same stuff in saline drips and used to irrigate wounds (and eyes!) In hospital. It's not very salty, bait the salt makes it sterile. That's why you bathe piercings and grazes in salt water. its all the same stuff. So it wouldn't hurt you- but you only use a couple of drops just to mix into the mascara. And I generally wouldn't recommend you getting mascara in your eyes anyway!

SunWukong · 22/08/2012 01:34

When I bathed my piercings it stung like a bastard (I was making it up at home to what the place told me to).

BlueSuedeStiletto · 22/08/2012 12:23

I never had a problem. Did you let it go cold?
