Can anyOne recommend one? Doesnt have to be beautiful, just effective and not too pricey. E45? Vaseline?

I love Lush's dream cream. It's not cheap straight off but a little goes a long way. I think my 500g pot cost just under £10. I've used less than a quarter of it in 6 months. I'm not a daily user of it but I use it in my legs and hands at least once a weeks, and sometimes other places.

BedHog · 21/08/2012 08:29

Palmers cocoa butter. About £3.50, works like a dream and smells of chocolate!

RedBlanket · 21/08/2012 08:31

I love Boots fair trade body butter. Comes in different 'flavours' and is really lovely.
Palmers cocoa butter is good, but I can't use it any more as I slathered it everywhere every day when I was pg and the smell reminds me of feeling sick all the time.

brighthair · 21/08/2012 08:31

I like the garnier 7 day range, the gel cream is lighter and nice for summer

BooToYouToo · 21/08/2012 08:32

I make my own based on a magazine article. Mix 2 Tbs E45 with 1 Tbs Aqueous Cream, add a few drops olive oil and a good amount of any perfume you have. I keep mine in an old Clarins lotion jar.

The original article said to use essential oils such as bergamot, lime etc but I didn't have any to hand and the ready mixed ones in the Body Shop were not for me.

I have also bought Jurgens (good but not as rich) and the Dove with self tan is quite good for adding some colour.

For pressies I often ask for the Chanel 19 lotion.

I like Aveeno and there is (relatively) unscented or lavender to choose from. I find it really effective and not greasy. It is periodically 1/3 off in Sainsbury's too, which is when I tend to stock up. The handcream is also my favourite.

Smile84 · 21/08/2012 14:52

Lush's Dream Cream or anything from Soap & Glory. :)

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 21/08/2012 14:54

Body shop almond body butter: my skin has never been so soft!

ALittleBitOfMagic · 21/08/2012 14:58

Body shop strawberry body lotion . I prefer the lotions to the butters

MooMinCow · 21/08/2012 15:09

redblanket - you can get the Palmers cocoa butter lotion in an unscented version (much nicer and doesn't clash with perfume). I alternate this with their AHA Smoothing lotion (in blue bottle) which is light textured and excellent for ingrowing hairs too!

sugarice · 21/08/2012 15:23

I love Jurgens for everyday and Clarins do a moisture rich one which I love the smell of.

valiumredhead · 21/08/2012 15:32

Aveeno or The Body Shop's butters.

Sickandsad · 21/08/2012 22:42

Palmers olive cream oil - lovely stuff glides on, soaks in and makes my skin silky smooth

janji · 22/08/2012 00:15

I second dream cream from Lush! Really effective and a little goes a long way (the only cream to sooth my ds's painful dry skin)!

Magicmayhem · 22/08/2012 00:20

I love the Aveeno range as well...

mamalovesmojitos · 22/08/2012 00:34

Dream cream is fab but smells of lavender which i hate. If you're ok with lavender then definitely give it a go.

juejue1 · 22/08/2012 01:08

Try Wish4 Beauty, its fantastic!!!. All natural, paraben free and no artificial fragrance. Made with pure natural essential oils. I love the Enriching Range(Rosewood,Geranium & Bergamot) soo relaxing!! but my best friend prefers the Refreshing Range (Lemongrass & Frankincense) because she says it really gives her that "get up & go feeling" actually, both are really lovely!! Not cheap, but I have to say a little goes a long way, so really good value for money.

SunWukong · 22/08/2012 01:41

I know I never shut up about it, but honestly Coconut oil is brilliant for everything.

Got it because I heard it was good on razor rash, after a while of rubbing my legs down with it I realised they where looking really nice so I use it all over now.

WoodlandHills · 22/08/2012 17:09

Lol sunwukong I had come on here to say coconut oil too! :o

I love it, its brilliant for everything isn't it?

mrssmooth · 22/08/2012 17:16

Soap & Glory's Righteous Butter Body Lotion is great - great big bottle with a pump dispenser, £10 from Boots and it's on 3 for 2 at the mo!

Binfullofmaggotsonthe45 · 22/08/2012 17:17

This is the best one I have used

SlinkyPebbles · 22/08/2012 21:42

Oh no! Too many to choose from. Time to refresh my amazon wish list I think!

I use either body shop coconut body butter, palmer's cocoa butter and sometimes coconut oil or almond oil. On really dry bits such as elbows/knees I use some body butter and when it's been absorbed put either coconut or almond oil over it.

lairymum99 · 23/08/2012 14:28

I'm with exterminate. Body Shop do a shimmery one too, which is lovely. Can also recommend Waitrose own brand solid baby oil which I'm using at the moment. Please note theyve got a 3 for 2 offer on at the mo Grin. Every little helps, as they dont say in Waitrose...

skandi1 · 23/08/2012 17:08

Akamuti have various body butters extremely long lasting and quite cheap too and absolutely no preservatives or nasties www.akamuti.co.uk/section/22/1/exotic-butters/bdb203dc921e1c6ecf0cc5f9dcc41d69

Or Earth Friendly Baby lavender lotion. About £6 from Boots, Ocado, Planet Organic or some Waitrose. It's lovely and moisture is long lasting and soaks in as you apply it so no waiting to get dressed.
It does have a few preservatives in but no parabens or anything like that.
