Sort my hair out!

I am going to go and get my hair done at the Vidal Sassoon Academy this week (for free). I'm totally undecided about what I want.

At the moment, it's a grown-out, washed-out red mess. I love having it red, but it just fades too fast and I can't be arsed any more, my hair refuses to hold the colour and it just washes out after 2 weeks or so.

I would love to grow it out, but it's taking ages, it's about down to my shoulders right now.

It is not the world's greatest hair. It's not curly, it's not even wavy, but it's not what you'd describe as straight either. It is straight to a point and then it waves inwards. It is naturally a murky indeterminate blonde/brown. It is fine as all hell, but it is never sleek. Bah, I hate my hair :(

I used to have it like <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?um=1&hl=en&safe=off&sa=N&biw=910&bih=428&tbm=isch&tbnid=68YW8466XnAs_M:&imgrefurl=highlights-hair.com/result_detail.php%3Fquery%3Dhair%2Bstyles%26type%3DMedium%26id%3D237%26p%3D16&docid=BhyteVpsFYXljM&imgurl=highlights-hair.com/img/278x362/mid-length-035-BL-P.jpg&w=249&h=295&ei=-lsyUMiUGca50QXow4D4DA&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=358&sig=118007754050776027495&page=2&tbnh=123&tbnw=108&start=15&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:6,s:15,i:140&tx=43&ty=95" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this and I LOVED it. But I am going to be a student again in 2 weeks and the upkeep is a bit expensive (roots every 2 months or so).

My face is round, as round as the moon or Team GB's cycle wheels. I am 29, but I look young. I do not like to faff about too much with my hair but I do like to look stylish.

I will ask, of course, for suggestions when I go into the salon, but does anyone have any suggestions for cut and colour that would suit me?

No-one wants my hair to look beautiful?

That cut, blonde highlights, lots of them in various shades, lots of caramel to the front to look sunkissed. Ask for a T bar of highlights- this is the cheapest. If your hair doesn't hold colour well, then you will have to have bleach...are you ok with that?

yellowraincoat · 20/08/2012 20:31

I'm definitely going to have to have it bleached whatever, I reckon. It's quite dark.

I'm not too sure about highlights to be honest, for a start I think the upkeep would be too much and I'm never 100% that I really like them.

It doesn't HAVE to be that haircut by the way, or even blonde. Any suggestions especially from those with round faces are welcome.

Well, my thinking os that you have had hair like that, and you liked it, so go for it again.

I like this, classic, nice colours, falttering side sweep....

but maybe too dull?

yellowraincoat · 20/08/2012 20:38

I know, I did like it and I probably should just have it how I like it, you're right.

Which SJP haircut did you mean, there's loads of them on there.

Oh sorry, it is the one where she has shoulder length hair, a plunging plain black dress, her hair is straight and more caramel/blonde than brown. ...

I think she has great hair colour, it is always flawless.

7th one down.
