Nail varnish colours to match plum/purple dress

Going to a wedding next weekend. I'm getting my finger/toenails painted the day before I go (2 days before wedding). I have a humungously long train journey and will be hefting suitcase around so am worried about chipping. My dress is the LK Bennett Davina in plum/purple. Any ideas what colours would work? I think I'd like toe/fingernails to match even though it's not very 'now'. Also don't want gel/shellac etc as my nails are too dried out to start with.

Wrt no chipping - base and top coat a must. This is what I do if it really needs to last and it never chips/looks as 'solid' as shellac if that makes sense:

Essie base coat ('Fill the Gap' I think)
2 coats of nail polish (I just use cheapy topshop)
Essie top coat ('Good to go' which dries ultra quick)
Leave for a good couple of hours (nail polish will be dry so it's not like you have to hang around)
Another 2 coats nail polish
Another top coat

Seems excessive but doesn't shift and I'm really clumsy.

Colours wise - do you want to match as in matchy matchy or a colour that 'goes with' iyswim? If just a colour that does with, topshop 'nice n' neutral' is really chic or 'big smoke' for a warm taupey grey might work nicely.

Am wearing a plum dress tonight to go out and just used essie Eternal Optimist which is a pinky neutral - nice coverage after 2 coats.

Thanks MCB. Like the sound of the Essie EO. I don't want to match the dress as might end up looking like an aubergine or a plum in head to toe purple. Thanks for your help re anti-chippage too

Chanel Delight - so, so gorgeous. The only chic gold I've ever found - am obsessed with it now. Also great on toes - brings out a tan.

Butter London Yummy Mummy. A taupey grey with a slight mauve tinge. Neutral and classy, and the purply undertones would look great with a plum frock.

Thanks all. lots of ideas. Never thought of a taupey grey. That could be good. Or the Chanel gold one. Oooooh decisions decisions.
