Are Quilted Jackets warm?

I need a new winter coat as mine fell to bits around December last year. I couldn't find anything at that point and muddled through with jumpers and my rain jacket but I'd really like something better this year.

I really really like the look of quilted jackets like this one

But I've had a feel in the shop and they don't seem that thick.

Does anyone know if they are warm enough for winter?

I have a Topshop quilted jacket with knitted sleeves (much nicer than it sounds!) which is very warm, though admittedly I haven't tried it out during winter yet. I reckon if you buy it big enough to fit a jumper underneath you'll be fine.

I have one (a barbour international lined with fleece) and it definitely isn't warm enough for winter.

Even with the fleece it isn't warm enough. I was quite surprised at how unwarm it is tbh!

I still love it and wear it when it isn't freezing though!

Am I the only one that thinks they look ugly? Rather like qulited mattress covers?

And not fit for purpose, either. Sheesh.

I do like the way they look, but not going to buy one if they aren't warm!

I have a Barbour quilted International & I have worn it in two winters, snow & all - it's been lovely & warm.

yes very warm. Have a joules quilted coat, gorgeous and warm. Bought last year, was gutted when it was the top teen trend as have wanted one for a few years. Still love it though.

Maybe it's just me - I do feel the cold!
