Outfit for a hen night.

My ex-SIL is getting re-married next month and August 31st we're all off on her hen night. It's just cocktails and then out on the own and everyone is really excited about it but me. I love my ex-SIL like my own sister, her friends all seem lovely and I know about 50% of the people going, I haven't had a night out in about six months so I can't wait to go out but I am just feeling crap because I feel I will look crap. I don't have money to spend on a new outfit bar about £20 so I could probably pick up some accessories somewhere cheap like Primark or Peacocks. DP suggested going for a spray tan as he heard it can help make you look a bit thinner which I've booked in for the day before. The salon owner promised me a very light tan so I don't look orange as I am milk white with pink undertones. It'll be my first spray tan so I'm still a bit Hmm over it all.

What kind of outfit would you wear to a hen night? I usually do dresses and black opaque tights with heels because for some reason I just don't look right in trousers. I have a few options but the one staple I usually wear made me look huge at my friend's hen last year and I don't want to repeat that.

I have: a black floaty number with sheer chiffon arms and Indian looking gold beading around the neckline. I could cinch it in with a black/gold waist belt. It's the only outfit I can think of that would look flattering yet not too revealing.

I'm twenty three. It shouldn't be this hard! :(

That dress sounds lovely.

Instead of a spray tan, why don't you buy a bottle of gradual tan - like Dove or Johnson's? You can start applying it every few days now and get a feel for how much you need. Far cheaper too.

What about a new bag to go with the dress? Some good ones here and also in New Look.

I've cancelled the spray tan and am now going with the two bottles of St Tropez gradual tanner. My friend gave me hers from ELLE and I got one free too. It should be enough for my face, neck and arms as the rest of me will be covered up and usually always is so it won't be a problem afterwards either.

Going to go with that outfit. Thanks Midnight

That should have been Midnight clearly.
