when ds was 12 weeks old my niece asked if I was having another baby! SIL had given birth 2 weeks after me and was so much slimmer! It will go down, it took me ages but I did nothing about it and it fell off when I stopped breastfeeding.

4 months is nothing!! I will reluctantly admit I was in my very comfy maternity trousers at 6 months. Feck it they were comfy and I was tired (to say nothing of the tummy!). 9 months up, 9 months down. You will lose it, it takes time and energy. I wouldn't put too much pressure on yourself just yet. Early days.

Check you don't have diastasis recti (lie back knees up, feet on floor chin to chest and feel if you can fit your fingers in between your abs when you lift your head) if you do you can't do traditional crunches but need instead to activate your transverse abs to bring your belly back in (google diastasis recti). Walking should help fat loss which won't hurt at all.
I asked for a referral to an obstetric Physio (can self refer per 6 weeks post birth) and she's been giving me some exercises which have reduced the bump but I too still look pregnant. Good luck.
