My first St Moritz tan experience.......

And possibly my last!!!!!

I did a trial run last night before my holiday. I exfoliated & moisturised the night before. I added extra moisturiser to my knees, elbows, wrists & ankles before applying the mousse, making sure those areas were dry first. I used a mitt & followed the instructions...

Now I haven't used fake tan in 9+ years only the tinted moisturisers. When finished I has dark patches in my knees and my wrists were patchy but that's my own fault, I was scared of over doing it! My tan, although a nice colour, was quite streaky and patchy in places, on my legs mostly and chest. I know I'm fair skinned but didn't realise how much- I got the medium mousse, and that looked dark against my natural skin lol!!!

So, I know St Moritz works well for others but it was a bit of a pigs ear for me. Unless I've gone about it wrong? Perhaps I didn't exfoliate properly? Or applied it wrong. Years ago I used that garnier spray & if I remember correctly that was ok so may try that.

You didn't use a exfoliator or moisturiser that has a high oil content did you? anything that leaves an oily residue on the skin will make tan go streaky. Also, you have showered haven't you? (sorry if that sounds really patronising but you didn't mention it)

Hi, I used E45 on the dry areas before applying the mousse. Yeah I showered this morning & scrubbed most of it off. When i got up this morning it kind of looked liked someone had just thrown a cup of coffee over me!

In the morning you'll wake up really tanned, but after a shower it should calm down. I've never had any problems with this brand ... I'd give it another go if I were you (maybe wait until a time after your holiday, you don't want to be extra streaky on a sun lounger ;-))

Did you apply with a sponge mitt? Never had a streak or a dodgy patch and I've used for years.

MamaGeekChic · 16/08/2012 17:56

e45 can be very oily depending on which version. Also I always use a mitt too.

HaveAGoodDay · 17/08/2012 10:24

Yes i used a mitt. The E45 i used was the creamy version. I'll give it another try next week, make sure i exfoliate properly and use a different moisturiser on my knees etc. Im not going away til Oct so plenty of time to practice. My idea was to practice in school hols so if it goes wrong, i've no school run to do, so i avoid the embarrassment!!!!

Ha ha! Maybe try using Palmers cocoa butter - works a treat for me :-)

I always use sally hansen airbrush legs when I fake tan, my legs always go streaky and patchy no matter what I use.

Savers do it cheaper than boots.
