Vertbaudet - any good?

Just noticed that duvets seem to have a very high thread count for the price (DD using her DF's sheets from when he were a lad, thought was perhaps time to upgrade). School stuff looks quite practical as well. Never thought to look there before - any views?

I've bought clothes there before, but wouldn't shop with them again.

The clothes were lovely, but I get spammed almost daily with email and letters through the post with random offers and voucher codes. If they charged a reasonable price, I'd probably shop there regularly, but I hate the constant discount codes and offers. I feel the prices are artificially bumped up.

Hi, DW used to buy a lot of the children's clothes from there (and stuff for their bedrooms) and always felt they were rather different (and therefore better) from normal stuff available in the UK - they are a little bit quirky and stylish without being so in an overly grown-up way. If you wait until they do one of their promos (which are frequent) the clothes, sheets etc... are worth it. Just quite expensive though. Although DD's outfit which gets the most admiratiion is a Vertbaudet dress (actually bought second hand) which we picked up at a summer fair a couple of years ago!

DW rates them way above Boden by the way!

Thank you. No one in RL has ever mentioned them to me, think I will give it a go

I bought a few bits when I had dd1. Nice stuff but once the introductory offers were gone I too was spammed endlessly by email and post. And the prices seems to have shot up, and any offers now are so limited with ridiculous pints of small print. Their website used to be shocking too but it does seem to have improved a bit and I was never impressed with their customer service (but they are a sister company of la Redoute which is TERRIBLE!)

Defo worth a look if you are a first time customer and get a discount and free gift bit be wary after that.

I used to buy stuff for DS from VB because it was the only place we could find clothes that weren't ridiculously logoed, just good plain colours.

Unfortunately shopping with Vertbaudet opens a portal to LaRedoute (the same company). Both of these will spam you relentlessly with rainforests full of offers, every week at times. I had huge catalogues thumping through my letterbox uninvited and the pamphlets - don't get me started!

It wouldn't be so bad but the LaRedoute quality is appalling. Things losing their shape after one wash. You might as well go to Primark.

It took ages for them to get the message to take me off their mailing lists.
I had requested in writing that they do so, and they were still actually ringing me up in the middle of the day to ask why I hadn't placed an order recently.
That operator really got it in the ear and I haven't heard from them since.

I Only escaped the deluge of 'offers' when I set up
A specific email address just fir them and moved house

I feel for the new residents, they're probably woken each morning by a brick of leaflets and pamphlets falling on their mat as we used to be

My kids are normally decked head to toe in Vertbaudet - we are in France and children's clothes are pretty expensive here anyway. I never or very rarely pay full price, thanks to the incessant offers.

Quality of children's clothes are generally pretty good, they keep their shape and colour. I also like their range for toddler girls as it's not 80% pink. H&m was where I shopped a lot for DS but their licensing seems out of control now.

Furniture is crap, bed linen varies greatly but a bit pricey.

AnnabellaFagina · 18/08/2012 08:18

I love vertbaudet and la redoute sheets.

GobblersKnob · 18/08/2012 08:22

I used to buy loads from Vertbaudet, but think the quality is not what it used to be.

Pochemuchka · 18/08/2012 08:25

Like the children's clothes a lot. Maternity clothes quality is shocking. Can take a long time to arrive in the post too. Luckily I haven't real been spammed by them (probably gone into my junk folder).
Will continue to get children's stuff but probably not anything else.

bruffin · 18/08/2012 08:27

My DCs lived in Verbaudet and La Redoute (same company) up until they were about 10. The offers are still good, I had a spend £100 and get £50 off several times from La redoute recently. The clothes were always excellent quality and lasted years.
Never ever call them up if you don't have to, their telephone system will induce phone rage within seconds.
