I am a childcare provider and am constantly washing my hands. As a reault I have weak nails and I am only allowed to waer clear nail varnish and whatever brand I use it tends to flake off.

Is therea clear varnish/product that will stay put and only come off when I remove it or grow out?

Not sure about a grow-out varnish but suggest you try Solar Oil Solar Oil. It has transformed my dry, weak nails into strong and presentable specimens. It is primarily a cuticle oil but it will strengthen and nourish the nail too when you massage it in.

So good, they named it twice Blush :o

I use dr lewinns Revitanail - think this is the uk equivalent - someone may correct me - I use it as a base coat constantly - and it makes my nails very strong . Not sure how quickly it will flake in your job but you can apply a new coat each day for several days as part of the nail strengthening approach...

This is the uk equivalent - it's an Australian brand I think? It's amazing, my ruined after acrylic nails and previously weak nails are now strong. It's a huge bottle so well worth the money.

Nail envy is great.
Massage a cream into cuticles. Try mavala nail hardener.
Then nail envy on clean hands.

I know everyone raves about OPI but it made my nails flake off in layers. Confused

I've tried absolutely everything but in the end just accepted that my nails will always be crap so now I have gel nails.

I have a similar job and have the same problem. A couple of months ago I started taking a b vit supplement and using Sally Hansen "Hard as Nails" in natural tint and then "Mega shine" topcoat over the top.
It's managed to stop them flaking off in layers or splitting vertically down the nail.
I also use a coconut oil hand cream.

I have thin weak nail that split/peel/break. I have tried massaging them with oil and a variety of nail hardeners inc Sally Hanson and Opi Nail envy all to no avail. The only thing that has worked is nailtiques, I started on formula 2+, now on formula 2. You have to apply it everyday, then remove it at the end of the week to start again but it does work as it bonds the nail layers together. www.nailtiques.com/products.asp?CategoryID=1. However I do use rubber gloves when washing up, so OP it may not help in your situation..

Try Burts Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream. You rub it on at night or in the morning or whenever and massage gently in, and it will really strengthen your nails. Has a lovely lemony scent too.
