John Lewis returns policy

With a receipt you can take anything back and there isn't a time limit for a refund. That's right, isn't it?

I've found a dress in a bag, which I'll probably never wear. I have the receipt etc, but the purchase date was June 2011.

Has anyone taken anything back over a year old?

You're right. They should refund you no problem.

Thought it was never ending. I'm being very cheeky by taking it back, but if they say it's okay, then who am I to complain! £126 back on the debit card please.

Doesn't it say on the receipt?

Itdidntworkout · 12/08/2012 16:12

It says you can take it back if you're not satisfied. Doesn't mention a time limit. When I've made purchases in the past, the cashier has said that there is no time limit when making a return.

I posted to see if anyone has actually made a return quite some time after the purchase was made.

glad you posted this thread. I bought a kew 159 bag from there 4 months ago. cost me over £100 and the zipper is broken after minimal weekend use. Taking it back this week but was worried they would say I had it too long.

sleepdodger · 12/08/2012 17:50

After a year a radio we bought broke, he barely glanced at the receipt an exchanged with a cheery smile!

Itdidntworkout · 12/08/2012 17:52

Meggles - It's a faulty item, so they would def take it back anyway.

Also wanted to mention that Hobbs now have a 14 day returns policy (like LK Bennett), so I will buy both Hobbs and LKB from JL and return at a much later date if I had to.

I recently returned unworn shoes , roughly 6 months after buying and they took them back no problem.

If you read the info online ( returns policy) I think it might include the words "reasonable " amount of time and something about refund or gift vouchers at their discretion. Might be wrong but rings some bells with me.
