Practical winter coat

I'm due with DC1 in early December and need something to keep me warm and dry when I venture out. Usually in winter I rely on umbrellas and a (v heavy) wool fitted coat, but I'm guessing that's not really going to be practical if I have a buggy or sling and lots more stuff to lug around.

Sooo I need a coat that is light but warm (I get cold very easily), has a hood, and won't swamp me (I am 5.3 and size 8). Would prefer something with a waist. I'd prefer not black - dark blue or a nice grey would be good. I'll consider any length.

Would be grateful for any suggestions!

Ah, just searched and I see there may have been one or two threads about this previously Grin - I am wading through this 34 page monster.

The contenders seem to be North Face Grace/Stella Grace or Merrell Wakefield... They look good but are they warm? look quite thin to me?

This Patagonia one is nice and warm but vvv expensive.

this north face Juneau is not bad, I do like the furry hood. Expensive again though Sad

I like this purple one but it's a bit short

I'll join you. Am at same stage of pregnancy and have same wishlist. Am size 12 and 5'11 though - short, flappy arms on coats usually cause me probs.

Company! yay Grin

I did find this one which is a lot cheaper than the others.

I'm also size 8 and 5"3. I got a north face boulevard, but love the merrell wakefield too. But you are very wise to think of this already. I was in so much panic buying last winter.

Mine hasn't got a hood though iirc.
