And yes I would never know old ladies have bald fanjos. What you learn on mumsnet lol.

WavingLeaves · 08/08/2012 20:06

"But the original article tackles the misinformation that unshaven = unclean. I think thats still a valid point, especially to teenage girls."

Yes exactly, that's what's objectionable, and the perception that you somehow will disgust a man if you're not hair-free. Otherwise, each to their own and all that.

IME a bloke's just happy to get a shag, hair or no hair. Any man who expresses deep preferences as to what their partner does with their own body hair is to be given a good old Hmm imo.

WavingLeaves · 08/08/2012 20:06

oh and according to my friend who is a nurse, pubic hair does fall out as a woman gets older. So we've got that to look forward to (or not).

Napdamnyou · 08/08/2012 20:13

Nobody has answered my question about grey pubes.
Sad face.
:(

MrsCampbellBlack · 08/08/2012 20:15

I think men over 40 probably are less likely to care but from talking to my younger niece - I do think men under 25 would be quite surprised at a full natural bush. And men of that generation seem to remove lots of their body hair too.

I have brazilians and they don't hurt and I don't go on all fours to have them done.

WavingLeaves · 08/08/2012 20:18

Pluck the odd grey pube is my advice.

I think by the time your pubes are mostly grey they will also be pretty sparse, so a dye job might be a bit pointless. Although on the bright side, you wouldn't need much dye. A bit of mascara might do.

TalHotBrunette · 08/08/2012 20:22

Wishing my DH would wax a bit. Pubic hair in the mouth is not a pleasant experience. It's courtesy surely? Grin

Mintyy · 08/08/2012 20:24

This is an issue that different generations just cannot agree on.

It is rare for women over 40 to go in for major pubic hair removal.

I find the attitude of some in the younger generation ("yuck" and "men don't like it") to be deeply offensive and unintelligent.

WavingLeaves · 08/08/2012 20:27

It will probably come full circle when the youth of today realise that bald = old in the fanjo region as well.

joanofarchitrave · 08/08/2012 20:38

I like the contrast, in texture and when appropriate in colour too. I have been known to see some porn in my time and I just find a bald fanjo or bald male pubic area really dull.

Virgil · 08/08/2012 20:43

My friend is 49 and already has hardly any hair down below due to age. Apparently it's just got thinner and thinner over the past couple of years. For those contemplating waxing I had mine down about six weeks ago for the first time and it was the most painful thing I have ever experienced although I think the beautician was probably not very good because I ended up really bruised with two big surface blood bruises that looked like big love bites! I have had two DCs so it's not like I don't know pain! I'm sure it gets less and less painful over the years just like plucking your eyebrows does but don't believe those who have been doing it for years and tell you it won't hurt.

I'm particularly hairy but two weeks later I had hair back there and although I've tried to keep on top of the Ingrowing hairs and to pluck out the new hairs as they emerge I've now decided to give up because I permanently look like a plucked chicken with little scabs all over - attractive Blush

BunnyLebowski · 08/08/2012 20:49

I wouldn't assume that's the norm though Virgil?

I've been having it done for less than a year. And it's never been painful. A wee bit uncomfortable yes.

And I've never had a reaction or an ingrown hair.

I think a lot depends on how good your waxer is. Mine is like a ninja Grin

Luvlyjubblyclothes · 08/08/2012 21:14

DH says that he would hate a bald one- like a child's. Or bristly if it wasn't waxed.
He likes a bit of soft fur :)

FWIW as far as I know friends in their 50s still have luxuriant bushes, so no loss of hair yet .

FastidiaBlueberry · 08/08/2012 22:18

Lol at men prefer it.

Not the men I've fucked.

IMO and IME the fussier men are about the hairy status/ breast size/ arse shape of the woman they are sleeping with, the crapper they are in bed.

Don't sleep with men who give a shit about that sort of thing, sleep with the ones who actually like women's bodies and are good at sex. Otherwise what's the point of it?

DameEnidSpink · 08/08/2012 22:40

Yep, worked in a nursing home, hence my extensive knowledge of old lady fanjos.

Gets sparser and greyer as one gets older, usually by late 70s there is just a few straight grey hairs at the front in a kind of post modern ironic take on the brazillian Grin

Given the fact that adult labia are more prominent, then yes, a 30+ yo with a bald fanjo will probably look more "senior citizen" than pre-pubescent

noddyholder · 08/08/2012 22:51

I hate it! And my dp does too. I have had it done when it was the in thing in the 90s bu never again .most of my mates gave up years ago and reverted to bikini line wax ad a trim.

FastidiaBlueberry · 08/08/2012 23:14

Do people not realise it makes them look like old ladies?

I guess that's because we are only ever presented with naked bodies of young people or middle-aged ones.

So only old people and medical and caring staff are aware that they all look like they've been down the waxing salon.

I wonder if this trend wd be quite so popular if more people knew it made their genitals resemble those of septuagenarians?

It comforts me to know that if present trends continue, I shall have an up-to-the-minute fashionable fanjo when I'm in my dotage.

And all without the horrid unhygienic risks as well. If I live long enough to get a telegraph from the king, I may celebrate with a vajazzling party.

OP posts:
Napdamnyou · 08/08/2012 23:23

I think bald fannies are common.
Unless you are an Older Lady.

BunnyLebowski · 08/08/2012 23:32

It's ridiculous saying a wax makes you look like a pensioner. Why have you been inspecting so many old ladies minges?? Confused

My tuppence is as youthful and pretty as my face and looks much better with an artfully placed triangle of hair than a full covering Grin. I don't like fully bald personally.

I don't do it for DP or anyone else. I do it because I love it.

I have never had a comment from anyone I've ever slept with about my pubic hair. If I did I'd boot them out the nearest door.

WavingLeaves · 08/08/2012 23:41

I don't know why, but the idea of having a 'common looking fanny' is making me larf.

That and the 100 year old bird's vajazzle.

piprabbit · 08/08/2012 23:45

Someone upthread said that hairs need to be 1cm long to be waxed, someone also said something about a wax lasting about 3 weeks.
So how long does the hair-free bit last before you start letting it regrow for the next waxing? Do the hair-free days outnumber the sprouting days?
I do love being able to ask these questions on MN.

FateLovesTheFearless · 08/08/2012 23:46

Arf at old ladies! Do those that shave armpits look like old ladies too? Having been a carer I can happily say my bald fanjo does not resemble a wrinkly old lady's one, despite it's baldness! Grin

AbsofAwesomeness · 09/08/2012 10:42

Pip, in response to your query, there is about a 10 day period when there's hairiness, but not tons. I have had successful waxes with less than 1cm, so I'm not sure about that. Generally I go once a month/every six weeks and did so even when single and not having sex. I found it helped prevent thrush.
