I am the last woman in the country to catch on to leggings and skirts

Please help me find a dress/skirt to wear with leggings. I am a size 14 and late thirties, I am desperate to break out of my jeans rut but am not what you would call 'groomed' and never will be! Grin

Can I just ask why you want to do the leggings / skirt thing? Is it just that it's what people seem to be wearing. Only, I reckon this look is incredibly unflattering on most people, even those with great legs. It makes most people's legs look much shorter than normal. Sorry. I know others will disagree.

Well, I just don't want to wear jeans every day and I don't feel comfortable in skirts generally so it's kind of a safety blanket! I am pretty critical of my own appearance and I don't think my legs look any shorter/fatter in leggings than in any of my trousers!

reikizen it is the absolute height of comfort, i LOVE leggings and long smock tops, or long t shirts, leggings are SO so comfy.

Only recently discovered myself i have to add, but i live in them.

I have gone for cheepos from Asda or primark as they wash ok, and i dont mind chucking them when they look a bit peaky around the edges.

Do it, get into the comfort thing, lovely Smile

dresses/tunics with leggings look fine - skirts not so much unless you're under 20 or a dancer.

I wear leggings/dresses every day - I get them all from Boden in the sale/phase eight/monsoon/occasionally M&S/ white company/me and em.

I got talked into this by a couple of girls at work last week! I wanted something cooler to wear on the few warm days we have!
They sent me to matalan for leggings - apparently they have the best colour range. I could only find black and grey, but hey!
I ended up in the Dorothy Perkins sale (but then we don't have a massive choice round here, and I wasn't going to do mail order when I had no ideas..)

Its really good, except I got caught in the wind, even tho it was a warm day. I couldn't keep the material down and push a buggy and chase a toddler.... It is cooler in the heat tho.

I'd say give it a go. I can see why it has been around for a few years (tho now I've started wearing the stuff, I can pretty much guarentee it will fall from fashion!)

I think you are right, dresses it is.

I love dresses and leggins, and am terrified they are about to go out of fashion.

What I struggle is finding cardigans to co-ordinate with the dresses/tunics. Does anywhere (apart from White Stuff) sell matching cardigans and tunics?

KristinaM · 06/08/2012 20:29

Defo not the last, I don't own any leggings

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 06/08/2012 20:37

No, don't do it! Don't join the trend!!
I hate the leggings and skirt combination ALMOST as much as I hate the thick tights under shorts.
Buy a nice dress Grin
I am currently loving per una dresses at the moment.

Olympicnmix · 06/08/2012 20:40

What colouring are you?

noddyholder · 06/08/2012 20:43

per una noooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Dancergirl · 06/08/2012 20:46

Anyone know best place for cropped leggings?

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 06/08/2012 20:48

some of the per una dresses are lovely. Am rocking the style stakes at work at the moment Grin. A mix of dresses from per una and DP.

downbythewater · 06/08/2012 20:53

Try white stuff for tunics/dresses to wear with leggings, especially if the sale is still on!

LurkeyLurkerson · 06/08/2012 21:13

Dancergirl I got some good ones in Tescos of all places!
