Dress for wedding - help please!

Please can you lovely ladies help me, I'm useless at shopping, have no idea what shapes suit me and live in jeans most of the time. I'm going to a wedding in September that will probably be quite classy and have no idea what to wear, MIL and SIL always look so good with no effort so I always look awful next to them!

I'm 6ft, size 16ish and have a fairly generous chest, I hate showing off my legs so nothing above the knee, oh and I can't wear heels at all. I'm told that fitted just below the bust is good for me (told by the woman who sold me my wedding dress so she may have been lying to get a sale!)

Any suggestions gratefully received Smile

If you have a waistline and are more pear than apple shaped, maybe www.longtallsally.com/tall/dresses/below-the-knee/contrast-trim-dress-with-pleat-detail/navy-pink?category=f-015_dresses_belowknee#

Or this would flatter a generous top half IMO www.coast-stores.com/GODDESS-MAXI-DRESS/Dresses/coast/fcp-product/2224751679

I would go with a wrap dress - a really flattering style for your shape. I will try to do some links but am a bit crap at it!

this may well suit and it'd be great with flats. No idea how tall the model is but it's 142cm from shoulder to hem.

RuckAndRoll · 06/08/2012 17:15

Thanks for the suggestions. A friend has suggested this one but I think it would require more in the way of acessories. I really am useless at all this!

Procrastination I really like that one. Would a black shrug be ok with it? (pre-empting a cold September)

I like procrast one too . A black or reddy shawl/shrug would look good with it.
