Alternative to mum boots

Ok I'm about to go back to work after mat leave and would like to get some shoes / boots. I have always just worn mum boots on the basis they're comfy and practical (I know, I know) and also warm (I have a polar bear like boss who likes the window open, even in mid winter). I am rubbish at wearing heels - does anyone have any reasonably priced suggestions of something to get? I'd usually wear trousers rather than skirts. Thanks in advance!

Blimey, where to start! There's literally hundreds to choose from. How about these as a starter for ten? direct.asda.com/george/womens-shoes/quilted-block-heel-shoes/GEM258803,default,pd.html

What's the job?

Windsock · 04/08/2012 22:26

I'm so proud of mum boots.
And nice ham. And dad jeans.
Abd twigs and pebbly shit.

Yes there are millions of non mum-boots footwear! What shop do you want to go to? We have to narrow it down somehow.

I'm getting these as I have to wear black for my job and need a bit of colour Wink

What will you be wearing them with? Trouser suits?

Chelsea boots are not mum boots. Fact

spammertime · 04/08/2012 22:41

These are all along the right sort of lines. Job is accountancy firm but no need to wear suits every day - smart casual sort of thing.

I know there are so many things to choose from but I live in the sticks and feel like I've been out of it for so long... I just need a bit of inspiration. Thank you so much, any more ideas will honestly be very gratefully received.

What are mum boots? I feel like I may be missing out.

Windsock · 05/08/2012 10:49

For with work things I had some ace suede black ones from Clark's. Under work trousers. Occasionally with opaquea and floppy skirts

Can someone please link to mum boots?

cahu · 05/08/2012 12:23

mum boot especially if seen with mid to light blue boot cut jeans a tad too short...........

Vicky08 · 05/08/2012 14:15

Thanks cahu, pleased to say I don't have any boots like that or jeans that colour Smile. I actually prefer long boots but I was thinking of getting a pair of ankle boots for this A/W so I'll be watching this thread with interest.

Blush I've got M&S boots (no link as they are about 2 years old)
They have a blockier heel, rounder toes and are brown
And yes I wear them with booy cuts of varying shades (dark to faded) but the are definately not too short.

There's no hope for me is there?

spammertime · 05/08/2012 20:34

Ok are these nice or am I just a lost cause?

cahu · 05/08/2012 20:56

Those Clarks shoes are quite nice, more with a skirt than trousers imo though...........
