I've been invited to an engagement party of one of my ex's. I wasnt going to go as I cant find anything to wear and I would have really like to dress to impress iykwim.

Anyway I would really like to wear a dress (usually more of a jeans gal) but want to make an effort. Nothing too dressy but just look effortlessly glam if it's possible.

The main reason I'm struggling to find something to wear is dresses just dont seem to suit my shape, I'm a size 16, 5ft 8 and feeling a bit frumpy. I'm 28 and would really like to wear something quite young in style but not too tight or short!! Prefer dark or bold colours to wishy washy ones. Does anyone have any suggestions, would really appreciate some help.

Thank you!!

What is your budget combobulated?

And what sort of party?

I am 5ft 7 and a size 16-18 and discovered these two dresses yesterday, quite by accident:
Rose print and Fan print

I am feeling frumpy and lumpy at the moment and have just been wearing loose stuff wich makes me look enormous (I have big boobs...) but when I tired these dresses on they were both amazing! Fit really well, the jersey is comfy, not too clingy but gives a good shape. I couldn't decide which one to buy so I just bought both Smile Got some compliments too as I wore one straight away to go to a friend's house for dinner.

Any good to you?

Alos meant to say that whilst they are clingy, they are not tight and they also sit on or below the knee, so not too short!

My budget is about £50 could maybe stretch to £70 it was lovely and I would wear it again. Its just in a local hotel in their function room so dont want to be too overdressed.

jenny, thanks for your suggestions, the first one wouldnt be suitable as I unfortunately dont have big boobs and not sure about the V neck on me. The second one looks nice, I wouldnt normally consider jersey due to being clingy but as you say its not I'll have a look for it in my local store.
