BB creams. Do they work? Which one...

... Would be best for me? I've been reading about them and they seem like a good idea but I don't want to spend loads of money then find I never use it.

I'm 39 and my skin is definitely looking older :( The main problem is that I get very shiny and greasy and a lot of foundations seem to exacerbate this. Currently I use No. 7 stay perfect foundation (I think it's called) with translucent powder. I would like something that gives me a bit more of a lift. My foundation is feeling a bit old fashioned now.

So, do you use BB creams? Which ones? Can they keep shine under control? Do you use instead of or as well as foundation (I don't like a heavy makeup look)

I have tried a couple of the bb creams. Im very fair and found the garner one far too orangey for my skin but I really love the no 7 one. It's fab. Smile

have a look at the Korean bb creams. They are the best by miles as far as I am concerned. My favourite ones are the holika ones. Not sure about the shine control as I have the opposite problem - dry skin.

I hate the heavy feeling of some foundations / tinted moisturisers and I also want coverage for my problem areas without feeling overly made up. I now use holika bb cream and elf mineral makeup and feel great :)

I have only tried the garnier one and really liked it. It has run out so I'm going to try another brand.

Where do you buy the Korean ones cutitout?

CutItOutAndRestart · 04/08/2012 09:51

sorry forgot that bit trixy Blush - ebay. Sellers I have used are belogirl, rubyruby and someone else I can't remember! If you search Mn there have been a couple of sellers mentioned before

I'm 36 with pale/uneven & spot prone skin and the Boots no7 bb creme is great for me. Formula for either dry or oily skins, and no orange face Smile

Right have done a search on MN and have ordered the holika clearing cream from bello and a skin79 gold sample from sing sing girl.

How long do they normally take to arrive?

I use Holika Holika BB cream from Korea - bought it on ebay. It is AMAZING.

I've heard fantastic things about the Dr. Jart range - at the moment there's £5 off each one at Boots. They have 4:

Dr Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm SPF40 - Provides high SPF40 protection with anti-oxidents. A slightly glossy, low coverage cream which helps fight ageing. Particularly suitable for those over 30.

Dr Jart+ Platinum Beauty Balm SPF30 - Provides high coverage in a light application. The moisturising lotion is particularly suitable for those in their 30s.

Dr Jart+ Regenerating Beauty Balm SPF30 - Provides strong coverage for redness and spots which won't rub off as easily as traditional cosmetics. Skin will look brighter, whilst still suitable for problem and sensitive skin. Particularly suitable for those between 20 and 35.

Dr Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF25 - ideal for those aged 20-35s with a soft application which gives natural, fresh looking skin and controls sebum production.

I'll be buying the Regenerating beauty balm when I've run out of my current one.

Thanks. I think I may try the No7 one first as I've got on so well with their foundation. I tried Clinique not long ago and felt like I had a heavy slick of grease on my face. Not nice, and it was supposedly for oily skin.

Feeling old and haggard today: not sure any BB can really work the miracles I need.

I tried the new L'Oreal one and it is shit, makes me look like an oomph lumpa even in the 'fair' - total waste of money, and made my skin feel oddly tight.
