Can you wear Spanx or shapewear with scrubs?

I have been exercising like mad but still have a problem with a stomach that it bigger than the rest of me. Worried about this look in scrubs. Can anyone recommend undergarments that will help pull my stomach in under scrubs?

Under scrubs????

Cluffyfunt · 03/08/2012 16:33

What are scrubs?

MrsCampbellBlack · 03/08/2012 16:34

Aren't scrubs quite baggy and sort of totally cover up your shape anyway?

lauratheexplorer · 03/08/2012 16:38

You can but the point of scrubs are that they're loose and comfortable. You won't be very comfortable and it won't make a lot of difference as the clothes are so shapeless. Plus you might see the span under the legs of your trousers when you walk as the material is so thin.

Msarsebiscuit · 03/08/2012 16:58

Blimey, why do you want to wear Spanx under scrubs ? Scrubs are so lovely and comfy, the last thing I'd want to do is spoil my brief illusion that I'm wearing my jimjams to work by squeezing myself into restrictive underwear ( and that's coming from me, who is vain enough to refuse to wear any other theatre cap than the one which just has a bit of elastication at the back so I can arrange my fringe in a flattering manner ). I also don't think that scrubs are form-fitting enough to show any any benefit from Spanx underneath.

MidnightinMoscow · 03/08/2012 17:37

What? Don't bother, just go for a larger sized pair.

Msarse - I totally understand the whole fridge/theatre cap problem. Probably one of the reasons why I prefered to stay in recovery!!

Msarsebiscuit · 03/08/2012 17:42

Fortunately, Midnight, I rarely have to go to theatre these days so I'm spared the whole dilemma - I only wear scrubs when my uniform is festooned with unpleasant substances/ and/or balsamic salad dressing or I have a trip out to the mortuary.

Thanks for the posts I am just so worried that with my stomach being out of proportion to the rest of me that I will look like I am pregnant. I was thinking of the Spanx knickers that hold in your tummy.

I have just started Jillian Michael's no more trouble zones so hoping that may help a bit.

pearleyes I would fret not. Everyone looks like a shapeless bag in scrubs. That's the beauty of them!Grin Just get them big enough. Not in a fit would I wear spanx under them. Good god, working in a hot hospital in spanx!!

SilkySmith · 03/08/2012 18:58

SCRUBS ARE WORK JAMMIES! why would you want to ruin the rare comfort of being able to wear jammies to work with spanx?

DonaAna · 03/08/2012 18:59

No. Just no.

GruffVoiceDownTheChimney · 03/08/2012 19:01

I have just returned to work after a year's mat leave. Have worked quite hard to shift weight, back in size 10 jeans but do have a mumtum still. 2nd shift back and a kindly patient asked, "is that a lovely little bump I see under there?" Blush

SilkySmith · 03/08/2012 19:01

and anywhere where I've worked and got to wear jammies scrubs I've had to get changed on front of the rest of the female staff! gettin your spanx out for half the staff is far less flattering than a bit of a belly!

ggirl · 03/08/2012 19:05

Not needed

..unless you're planning [http://theloveumake.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/nurse-jackie-come-quick_articleimage.jpg nurse jackie tight scrubs]]

ggirl · 03/08/2012 19:05

oops

bagelmonkey · 03/08/2012 19:09

You don't need to worry about a belly with scrubs. Some of my (make) colleagues didn't even notice I was 8 months pregnant because I was wearing scrubs.

bagelmonkey · 03/08/2012 19:09

(male), not (make)

chipmunksex · 03/08/2012 19:27

Just wear some nice big pants. Envy

FannyFifer · 03/08/2012 19:30

Bloody love wearing scrubs, the bigger and baggier the better, oh and a pair of crocs to be sure of extra comfort.

RillaBlythe · 03/08/2012 19:31

DP says the only good thing about being on call is getting to wear scrubs for the whole shift. I sleep in a pair he liberated.

FannyFifer · 03/08/2012 19:32

I do the gardening in a liberated pair.

SilkySmith · 03/08/2012 19:35

one of my housemate's liberated pairs travelled round india as they were so cool and comfy for roughing it on a budget!

VivaLeBeaver · 03/08/2012 19:38

Love scrubs. No to spanx.
