hair disaster at hairdressers. Please help!

I have medium dyed brown hair and wanted blonde highlights. Went to a reputable salon today and they have RUINED my hair. The highlights looked horrible and didn't lift right so they've covered them with a light brown which is now ginger on top and green on the ends. I am so gutted. Obviously i haven't paid but i'm terrified of hairdressers now as this isn't the first disaster i've had and desperately want to fix my hair myself. What can I do? I'm sat here crying!

Oh, bless you. What have the salon offered? They should be offering to put it right. If they haven't, ask for the most senior stylist they have to do it.

I can't offer advice but just wanted to sympathise.

Go back to the salon tomorrow and ask them to sort it. It really sounds like a professional is needed rather than home cure.

Good luck.

Go back to saloon and ask them to fix it. Ask for a more senior stylist. 2nd time round the highlights shud cum through quicker and will look nicer as u already have several shades in ur hair.

Dont stress about it, i uses to rarely be happy wen i went to hairdressers....until a few months ago

Hi, thanks for the replies. They did try to put it right by dying it back brown but that went horribly wrong and the stylist said he didn't know why! doesn't instill me with much confidence. It was the manager/senior stylist that did it. He has asked me to go back tomorrow but he clearly hasn't a clue what he is doing so I don't want to. To be honest I don't want to set foot in any hairdressers ever again! Is there ANYTHING I can do at home to get a natural looking medium brown? Please

I woudnt tamper with it yourself to be honest, you will make it worse and then the salon will blame you and you wont be able to hold them accountable.

Find another reputable salon - preferably from recommendations, let them put it right and then give the bill to the salon who fucked it up.

I had a nightmare years ago when my hairdresser turned my hair orange - not my finest hour and I can totally empathise with you.

Let us know how it turns out.

Yes - I agree with Betty. Find another salon and send the bill to first salon, threatening legal action if they refuse to pay up. Good luck x

Oh no, what a horrible thing to happen.

Go back tomorrow (so today) and see what they say but if you're not happy with the 'feel' of this guy (i.e if he seems like he hasn't got clue) then just refuse and leave. Is it a chain salon like Toni and Guy, Saks, Regis etc? If so, a letter with photos to head office might not be a bad idea.
I know this sounds a bit harsh but I think women invest a lot of time and emotion in their hair and its heartbreaking when something like this happens. If this senior stylist needs retraining, the company needs to know!

And find yourself a new salon in the meantime..

thank you for all your kind posts. Well, I bit the bullet and made an appointment for another hairdressers yesterday morning that state to specialise in colour correction. They saw me straight away and knew exactly what to do. They put on a beautiful colour by Joico Chrome, it was just a depositing colour with no lift. Following this I had an intensive conditioning treatment. I now have dark, shiny hair and am SOOOO happy and relieved. I asked them for an invoice which I took to the previous hairdressers who coughed up, no questions. Even going near the place that ruined my hair made me go cold, seeing all their other poor customers. They are an expensive salon so I really cant understand how they could have mucked up so badly. I don't have the blonde highlights I was after but I have decided I am happier dark.
