How fab is Mint Velvet?

I've never shopped there before but I've just been looking at their website and I could buy everything!

All the black/neutrals look so smart and stylish, the antithesis of brightly coloured Boden!

Any MV fans out there? Before I spend a fortune, is there anything in particular I should go for? Their trousers and jeans look good and I like a lot of their tops too.

Funny you say about holes (someone did!) I have recently bought a top from mint velvet, I noticed a tiny hole after a couple of weeks. I thought it might be me (though unlikely) so didn't bother taking it back. Also bought the foundation beaded wrap, I love the colour but it's too heavy to wear with all the beading.

Dancergirl, I find Whitecompany (not to be confused with whitestuff) a very good antidote to Bodenesque prints.

Most is grey/slate/mud/white or black. As I am olive skinned those tones really suit me, and I (like to) think it is kind of classy.

It is good quality stuff too, thick jersey in cotton or viscose (never polyester) or even silk or cashmere.

Off to check out mint velevt now.

OMG, the site looks fab! Love the clothes.

Why does nobody like it? Is it really bad quality (sob)

shorttermnamechange · 04/08/2012 12:59

The leggings are great - have wide waistband so lies flat under clothes and doesn't dig in the waist. They are shaped for the hips. Mine have lasted for ages.

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 04/08/2012 13:22

I have a few pieces...it tends to be quite long in the arns which is good for me.
I have tried on a nice grey (!) trench, a swirly print tunic and a lace top I quite like.
Go to their concessions and you get a £10 voucher at the moment.

Grin Carole

I do love that aviator. What kind of stuff do you wear for work then?

cybbo · 04/08/2012 14:58

I has a beautiful fringed grey suede shoulder bag, not cheap. Handle broke after a month

Also if you look at their knitwear in store, lots of it is bobbly just from hanging around, which means it won't stay looking nice when you've bought it

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 04/08/2012 15:17

Cyb - that's Shock

I do have a lovely pair of grey suede ankle boots from there.

Ooh and I know what I meant to tell you - I had fillers in my tear troughs last week and it WORKED!

CaroleService · 04/08/2012 18:38

Tailored dresses and cropped cardis over, Miss B. And a fierce bag Grin

cybbo · 05/08/2012 07:05

Omg Miss B!! I need detail details........

cybbo · 05/08/2012 07:06

And another thing...why aren't MissB and Mrs Duvall on Twitter?

monkeysmama · 05/08/2012 10:41

I have a leather jacket from Mint Velvet that I adore. The leather is lovely & akin to my Massimo Dutti leather jackets in terms of quality. It did fade when I had it specialist dry cleaned though.

I bought the Evie scarf and silk fronted tee from the winter range. The sizing is a bit odd though. I'm a 12-14 in tops usually but had to get a 16 in the tee.

marriednotdead · 05/08/2012 11:01

Not my scene generally but the best leggings I have ever bought.

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 05/08/2012 11:09

cyb - I keep getting hacked and spamming everyone with diet tips Blush Grin

The filler in the tear trough was painless (anaesthetic cream beforehand) and there was some slight puffiness the next day but has got rid of them almost completely. It was getting tricky to cover them up as they were getting worse (loss of volume in the occipalwhatismaythingyarea) and I did really hate them, so very much so I am delighted that they have gone. It's taken years off, I tell ya.

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 05/08/2012 12:08

Cyb...I would waste even more time.

Maybe I will look into it.

BerylStreep · 05/08/2012 19:42

What are tear troughs?

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 05/08/2012 20:58

tear troughs

Dancergirl · 05/08/2012 21:19

carole and missb, I love that aviator jacket! Wonder whether they'll do something similar this year.......

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 05/08/2012 22:07

It is lovely Dancer - is really soft and supple

AntPants1 · 05/08/2012 22:15

I bought a beautiful grey (yes I know grey!) fitted leather jacket there this spring. It is beautiful. Looking forward to wearing it again after the summer (what summer I?...I know). Lovely soft leather. Beautifully cut. Very flattering. Like most places up need to pick through the range to find the gems but definatly worth a rummage in my opinion...

SkiBumMum · 05/08/2012 22:24

Jeans are nice. Jersey long t shirt Tops look nice but bobble.

cybbo · 05/08/2012 23:18

How much did it cost Miss B?

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 06/08/2012 06:51

£350

cybbo · 06/08/2012 07:01

Oof

What with my £170 Botox bill not sure I can stretch to that

cybbo · 06/08/2012 07:02

Glad youre pleased with it though

Maybe I'll start doing the lottery
