I have relatively noticeable pigmentation / freckles under my eyes and I think it really ages me. Can anyone recommend a really good concealer?

Whilst thinking about my eyes, I could also do with a decent mascara, and suggestions for an easy to apply eyeliner. Can I also wear a pearly cream / white eyeshadow on the lids - and would this brighten my eyes up? Or should I use a white pencil on the lower inner eyelid? Or both? I am clearly clueless and would appreciate any help / advice!!!

I think Max Factor mascaras are really hard to beat, and although they keep bringing out all sorts of newer fancier ones, I always go back to this one

I like that the brush is not huge, so it is much easier to get it onto your lashes

A makeup artist recommended to me the Bobbi Brown creamy concealer for under eyes - think they also do a corrective concealer for bad eye bags, go to the counter and have a trial (it's free).

For eyeliner, Clinique Quick Eyes is quite nice, or just use a pencil and then smudge it with an eye smudger (I've got an ancient one that's basically a pointed foam tool that you use to smudge) - if you buy a Chanel eye pencil, they have a rubber smudger at the other end of the pencil and come with a sharpener.

Re: the white, put it on the browbone (lightly applied) and dot and blend a little on the lid closeish to the nose end of it - where the light naturally falls. Then blend a darker shadow into the crease, focussing on the outer edge. Use a rounded end brush to blend it and build up the colour gradually.

Second vote for Max Factor Masterpiece Mascara. I also love Urban Decay's mascaras.

Is the pigmentation immediately under the lash line or slightly lower on the top of the cheek bone/eye socket ridge? If the latter, I have the same thing and use Bronzer to create a more even skin tone.

I find pearl or white eyeshadows quite ageing. I use Mac pigment pots of colour in an iridescent pale silvery/blue just along the upper lash line and blend with Deep Truth eyeshadow (also by Mac) which is a deep navy blue. Makes my blue eyes really stand out, as does a selection of bronze and gold colours by Mac.

Don't go with YSL's Touche Eclat concealer. It is much more of a highlighter which will just draw attention to that area. Go with a heavy duty concealer like Max Factor's Panstick set with a powder or Benefit's Erase Paste.

As for mascara, Max Factor's is good but I love No7's new Fanomenal mascara a bit more. Always curl your lashes (Shu Umera curlers are the best I've found).

As for a white pearly eyeshadow, go with a shimmery primer. Benefit's Primer Potion in sin is a gorgeous pigmented gold taupe which will brighten you and make you look 'done'.

As for easy to use eyeliner, use a gel liner with an angled brush for staying power. I love ELF's new gel liner but there are loads out there. I don't rate the Lancome or Rimmel ones. You may find a felt tip liner easy too but they tend to dry out a bit.

I'd highly recommend the Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Concealer. It lasts forever. It doesn't budge. Covers well. You only need a small amount. I made the mistake last week of going for a cheaper option and then realising within two days, that I had to bite the bullet and replace my old Estée Lauder one and bin the "cheaper" item.

I went to Boots and explained myself and they said.... "we'll refund the cheap one and you can just pay the difference for the EL". I was astonished!! It's £19 but, my old one, I'd had for 18 months. And for me, it is the best.

As for eyeliner..... I use a Colourstay product. "24 hour Eye Liner. From larger Boots. It's like a felt tip pen. Lasts.
