I am too old to show my bra straps (and they are a bit grey)

Please advise? Can I just go to Marks and Spencers and ask for a "bra clip" or "bra strap holder?"

I have A-cup breasts.

sorry to be so ignorant but everyone has to start somewhere!

For starters, what are you looking to wear that you need to hide your straps? As an A cup though, I would think that what you probably need is a decent strapless bra (assuming you don't want to go bra-less) to solve all your problems.

If you're after something for those racer back tops I find the little clips you can get for bra straps a bit fiddly and uncomfortable although they do work. Strapless far better though imo.

Just buy a strapless bra.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 27/07/2012 12:51

If you are too old to show your bra straps, then you are too old to wear something where they can be seen!

Applies to everyone from age 13/14 onwards IMO...

With small breasts though, a strapless would be an option?

lingle · 27/07/2012 12:51

thank you. Strapless isn't really an option - too uncomfortable on my broad back.

I don't wear spaghetti straps, but I wear the wider equivalent of them, IYSWIM.

No halter-necks, so usually following the line of the bra strap itself.

Buy nicer bras in colours that go with the tops? So if you do have accidental show then at least it isn't grey?

JustFabulous · 27/07/2012 13:05

Get rid of the grey bras! Buy yourself something nice and then it doesn't matter about the strap showing. No one will faint if they see a strap or two! But they may feel a bit Hmm if there is some tatty off white strap on show.

Bra need to be co-ordinated to outfit and grey strap is a no,no,no,no,no What size is back some really comfy strapless about

lingle · 27/07/2012 19:50

36A. I find it really hard to buy a bra that fits so tend to treasure the ones that do fit for too long (plus DH does the laundry and he mixes all the colours up).

I want to fit the clothes to the bra somehow - double-sided sellotape, velcro, is there really nothing out there apart from safety pins?

You could sew in 'lingerie straps'. They are little bits of ribbon with press studs on. I've put them on a top where the straps kept falling down.

I got mine in a habadashers but I imagine somewhere like John Lewis would do them.

WoodlandHills · 27/07/2012 20:49

How old ARE you op?

Krumbum · 28/07/2012 06:34

Don't wear strap tops then.
Go braless!

imnotmymum · 28/07/2012 07:57

Leftwingharpie · 28/07/2012 08:46

Since when is it ever ok to show your bra straps???

lingle · 28/07/2012 21:44

I'm 41, so can't really go for the urchin look (body could get away with being thought younger but sadly not face!)

I think those lingerie straps sound like the way forward, thank you for that suggestion.
