Perfume on a budget...

It's my birthday tomorrow and although I've got about £100 to spend (yipee !) I don't want to spend £40 on one bottle of perfume...I'm not working at the moment and want to get as much for my money as possible. I've smelled a few perfumes in M&S in the past and Zara and thought they were quite nice, from memory they were around £10...can anyone recommend any nice cheapish perfumes...?

Just to disagree with the 'all celeb perfumes are horrible' sentiment - the Intimately Beckham one is really really nice! Blush - A work colleague had it and was quite embarrassed that that's what it was, but I had to agree with her that it's lovely. It's only £10.95 on here.

luca turin highly rates the man's beckham one as well. can't bring myself to buy it though!

otchayaniye · 27/07/2012 12:58

lush karma is rated as a orange patchouli hippie frgrance.

if i had little to spend i'd either get the histoire de parfums sample set (just got it and about half i'm in lve with) or the ormonde jayne one.

lot of bang for buck for 20 quid and fun to try.

or else get an estee lauder one (for mass market they have some corkers) or coty stetson or molinard habanita.

I quite like Glow by J-Lo as well Blush. Actually, why am I [blushing] ing? It smells really soft and subtle on me.

Another vote for Lush perfumes, they are wonderful and I only ever buy them. Tend to buy the little liquid tester bottles from them or on eBay (lower postage that way) when I am broke or just trying out a scent to see if I like it.
Good resale value if you don't like it as well, as there will be someone who does!

cheapsmells is great & non-dodgy if you want the more expensive brands at a cheap price & their sales are excellent.

My favourite 'cheaper' scent is Midnight Fantasy by Britney Spears Blush honestly, it's quite nice!

M&S have recently relaunched & rebranded their perfumes (just as I was looking for one in particular for a v.fussy relative, thanks M&S) so it might be worth giving them a try again?

Happy Birthday!

Sniff all of the Zara perfumes - there's usually one or two that are lovely and they're a tenner.

Happy birthday!

DizzySiddal · 29/07/2012 17:06

Oooh I luffs Eden too! DD has half inched my bottle though...

myalias · 29/07/2012 17:19

My favourite is Britney midnight fantasy - I don't have it but a few girls at work wear it and it smells lovely.

CointreauVersial · 29/07/2012 17:28

I wear Next Just Pink as my everyday perfume - it's lovely, fresh and fruity/floral. I pick up the giftsets cheap in the sales so I can get shower gel/body lotion too.

I used to work in the perfume business, and I am well aware that the cost of the premium fragrances is largely to do with mark-up/branding and rarely to do with the price of what's in the bottle.

I bought the Rihanna perfume Reb'l Fleurs (or something like that) and it is very nice

racingheart · 29/07/2012 18:46

Clarins do body sprays for about £17 a bottle that are gorgeous. Eau Dynamisante or Eau Resourcante.

ScarletSmellyFeet · 29/07/2012 19:04

Well worth looking in Boots for their ale bottles, I picked up tommy and red jeans for £10 each.

ParsleyTheLioness · 29/07/2012 23:05

L'Occitane do a verbena EDT which is lovely and the smell lasts quite well. Nice for summer.

cocolepew · 29/07/2012 23:08

Chloe Narcisse is usualy £9.99 in chemists , its my favourite perfume. Stays on all day too.

BigBandwitch · 30/07/2012 09:27

wrigletto THERE's a fake glow called shine and it's lovely too. I think I paid a tenner for it in a chemist and there was a free moisturiser with it too.

I like a cheap scent called Inis. It is very subtle but very nice and if you like glow you might like it.

DorothyGherkins · 09/08/2012 23:21

I use Sanctuary Classic for every day use, I think its about £12 in Boots. Nice and fresh and subtle without being overpowering. Got body lotions and stuff to complement it as well.

Krumbum · 09/08/2012 23:54

My friend bought a bottle of cool water wave in boots on sale for about £11 recently. It's lovely, very fresh.

cocolepew · 10/08/2012 10:46

Moroccan Rose Eae de Toilette - Body Shop smells lush and it's fairly inexpensive.
