Right, tell me what to do with my hair.

Brief background, I have brittle asthma, haven't been properly well since February, and just in the last couple of weeks have started wearing make up and doing my hair again.

I have started drying/straightening it again, and have bought a couple of new items of clothing, and feel much better for it, but I'm not sure what to do with it.
It's dyed, home dyed, overly dyed, and very blonde, and brassy hideous, and snapped all over. It should be one length, boring below shoulder level, which I am fine with, but the condition is so bad.

I have about two inches of root growth-boring dull mousey but with at least 50% grey.
I'm stuck between dying it one more time, to a less brassy shade, and then growing it out, or just keep it trimmed, and stick with it for as long as it takes to get rid of the dye.

Hmm, I would dye it. Whats your natural colour? Brown? Dye it as close to your natural colour as possible and then grow it out, they greys will still show but it wont look as obvious.

Or you could henna dye it, makes hair all lovely and shiney but it does resemble cow poo when on your head..

I messed my hair up big time about 18 months ago, please go to a reputable salon, they will put a toner on to bring the colour down and give you a conditioning treatment. Not the cheap option, but you will feel so much better!Wink

Have it all lopped off into a funky short style.

Once your hair is fucked, all the treatments in the world won't do anything substantial.

No to short hair.
I have a really swollen face because of steroids for my asthma so keen to keep hair as long as I can.

Natural colour is dull, mid brown, and now quite grey. I'm 34, so not really old enough to rock grey.

What will a toner do?
Will it hide the grey?
I need to get rid of the dye, that's what's messed up the condition, but I want it to look least bad whilst I'm doing that.
I use Percy and Reed hair products, so not cheap stuff (I love the smell)

I have a very round face too. Mainly cos I am so fat Grin but I also have to have regular courses of steroids for my asthma too.

I always had mid length hair. Thought it hid my face. But my hair is really fine so it just made my face look huge.

I went for the chop and now have a short, choppy style with lots of body and it actually makes my face look less fat.

If you've had short hair and feel it does, then ignore me Grin (or ignore me anyway Grin ) but if you just think it will make your face look fatter - you may be surprised.

Just buy some hair extensions! serious, henna will rescue the condition of your hair extensions will rescue the length, sorted!!

NettoSuperstar · 25/07/2012 20:04

Hecate, I'm interested.
I'm really freaked out about short hair though. My Mum made me have a short back and sides as a child and I still haven't recovered.
I'm terrified I'll look like a man with a fat head.
Could you link to a similar style as to what you have?

No to extensions, that won't solve the issue of my horrid condition hair, thanks for the post though.
