Talk top me about bikini lines and hair removal therefrom

Just ordered a new cossie from the Toast sale to replace my aged one. The new one has 'briefs' rather then the boy shorts I've been used to so I just know I'll need to do more than a quick shave of my nether regions.

What method do MNers favour for bikin hair removal? I have an epilator which I can bear on my legs, but far too painful elsewhere.

I'm not looking to remove all pubic hair by the way, just enough to be able to wear the new bottoms safely.

Looking forward to your tips!

wax?

mintymellons · 25/07/2012 11:59

Hmm, bit scared of wax down there, imagining it would be as bad as epilator unles anyone can tell me different?

I go to a salon to get waxed. But I like a brazilian. If its only to get rid of spiders legs, then it won't be painful !

This thread is well timed for me. I shaved all my hair off the day before yesterday and now regret it, cos the stubble is coming through. Have just tried to epilate the bikini line. I don't have a special bikini line attatchment, but thought 'fuck it, how hard can it be?' It stung a bit, but wasn't unbearable.

Tmi, but i will be letting most of the hair grow back and will attempt to epilate the bikini line in future. I think shaving will just lead to a rash and the bikini creams don't seem to work on me.

Nabootique · 25/07/2012 13:13

I go with shaving. It does itch a little when growing back, but then I whip it off again, and the more you do it the less itchy/rashy it is. I think your skin kind of toughens up and gets used to it!

immac, simple. just remove everything the night before, and trm with razor on hols

MadAboutHotChoc · 25/07/2012 14:07

It should not hurt (unless you are very sensitive) if you have it waxed at a salon - I usually just have a bikini line wax. The hairs won't grow back for some time which is great for holidays.

I have only tried an epilator once and it bloody hurt!!

fedupofnamechanging · 25/07/2012 14:11

First few times on my legs with the epilator, were hard, but I have honestly become desensitised to it now and much prefer it to shaving my legs. Am looking forward to having the same result on my bikini line, eventually.

OhEmGee24 · 25/07/2012 15:08

Full Hollywood wax every 5 weeks without fail! I could wait about 8 weeks really but hate the stubble effect. No pubes for me Grin

mintymellons · 25/07/2012 15:35

Thanks for the many and very replies!

To be fair, I've never tried the epliator on my bikini area, so perhaps worth a try. In the past I used to use hair remover cream and that was fine actually, so may go back to that again.

Also, this needs to be DIY, I can't be doing with the faff of going to a salon!

Sorry, that should say 'varied' replies

Goodness, is no one doing IPL? S'fab - hair gets thinner and thinner and eventually (after 5 or 6 zaps) gives up in despair and stops. After that, it's a once-yearly maintenance. No shaving or waxing, just smooooth.

Julialyne · 26/07/2012 09:17

I am a beauty therapist & wouldn't recommend that you use an epilator on the bikini line or underarm areas either. The area is just too sensitive.
A wax in a salon with hot wax would be best but if you want the easy DIY then go with the hair removal cream. It will last a few days with no stubble or rash.

mintymellons · 26/07/2012 15:46

The cossie arrived today and looks pretty good all things considered! The cut of the bottoms isn't too high, so will use the hair removal cream I think :)

This might be over thinking it slightly, Can you use veet down their & your fanny be alright? I thought it may be a tad to chemically and affect the natural balance?

Anybody get what i mean?
