How do you hide your grey hairs??

I've been using Casting hair colour (lasts up to 28 washes) for quite a while to cover the increasing grey hairs on my parting. However, I'm finding I need to apply a new colour every 2-3 weeks and I'm often struggling to find the motivation when everyone is finally in bed. I wondered about a permanent colour but not sure if I'd have the same roots/parting problem? I'm not that experienced or brave when it comes to hair colour!
Another option I wondered about (after looking at lots of women's hair!) is that some seem to blend their grey in with highlights.

What does everyone find the best solution please? I've left my colour longer than usual and I'm trying to ignore the grey. I'm just debating whether to put another wash in/wash out on, buy a permanent or book into the hairdressers. I'm just a bit worried about the hairdressers colouring it incase it costs a lot to maintain?

Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you. (I've got medium brown hair if this is relevant?)
