Can we talk black work trousers (and shoes) please? I've not bought such an item for over TEN YEARS!

So, last year I returned to work after having my brood and I spent last winter wearing dresses. I'm thinking I could do with some new black work trousers. The last I had were black crepey bootlegs from Next bought over 10 years ago. Can anyone link to nice ones that cost under £50 please?

Also, I have a wobble about wearing trousers with heels though when others wear them it looks nice. Heel has to be low as I'm pretty much 6 foot and shoes have to be v comfy as I'm on my feet most of the day. Any suggestions?

I teach so school smart not office smart please.

TIA

I can't link as I'm on my phone but look at Banana Republic. They have lined lightweight wool trousers in black for 19.99. Internet only but free returns. Ignore the dry cleaning thing, they wash nicely in the machine and the sizing comes up big.

M & S have some atm - I love them so much that I've bought them in different lengths(for heels/flats) & colours. They are quite substantial cotton with a bit of stretch so hold in my wobbly bits. Best of all they are £19.50! Will try to find the link.

Other than those, Zara do some nice chinos.

Here's the link

Thanks both!

So many to look at in M&S/Banana Rep, are we thinking wide leg or straight?

Sorry missed your link thanks Miranda.

What shoes do you wear with those?

I'm trouser phobic at the mo, having put on a bit of weight Blush

But armed with steely determination I went trouser shopping through the whole high street until finally getting to M&S and found a fab wide leg pair that don't make me feel as fat as I feel! Crepey type material with stretch (always a bonus Wink) £29.50.

Lozis what shoes will you be wearing with those?

I had been wondering about straight leg ankle skimming trousers but the shoe thing is stressing me.

Keep an eye on coast for a sale, my last pair were £85 down to £30, Im normally a 10 but fit a coast 8 and most of my heels come from new look and I buy comfy soles to put in them.

Lozislovely · 22/07/2012 21:18

I bought short and medium length. I'm 5.6' so with the short I just wear a flat or 1/2 or 1" shoe (I have many pairsBlush). The way the trouser sits at the foot is fab as almost any style of shoe looks fine. I tried straight and bootleg but the shoes I have just didn't look right.

Lozislovely · 22/07/2012 21:19

Should have said that with size 8 feet, slim leg or straight leg trousers just make my feet look like boats Wink

When I'm working I'm on my feet all day and I find that I need shoes that support my feet or they ache. I like Moshulu - the ones I wear are in their winter collection but they're similar to these

They're elegant & made of leather & were more expensive than these but they've lasted me for over a year!

tassisssss · 22/07/2012 21:25

Miranda, that link was to a (very nice) colourful trainer. Can you try again please?

No, that was the right one! But I have it in dark blue. They are leather. Probably not what you're after, but you did ask what we wear! Grin

Thanks Miranda!
