Help, my hair is a disaster, hairdresser recommendations in or near Reading please

My hair is an unmitigated disaster, it's grown out of any resemblance of a style, my colour is growing out and has been bleached by the sun into a really unpleasant shade. It needs to be cut and coloured. I have only had one good hairdresser in my life (a few years ago) and one of the things I loved about her was that she came up with good ideas about what I should do with my hair. I REALLY want to look less drab. I've been getting fit but my hair is appalling and I have no idea what to do with it (mid brown, mid length). Does anyone know if a good hairdresser or salon where they will be able to transform me (or at least my hair!)

I always head (excuse pun) for Toni and Guy. Their colourists seem to know exactly what to do as they are trained as JUST colourists.

I left Toni and Guy years ago, went off and had a years worth of colour and cut by same girl in a local salon, then sobbed my way back into T & G to get it all put right.

Just walk in off the street and they'll get someone to talk to about it

DSIL goes to the Funky Barnet at Cemetary Junction. She said they were very good - but she has never had a colouring, so I don't know how good they are with that.

Thanks all, I am really nervous after a few dud cuts and colours and so keen to find someone who will take control! Any other suggestions welcome as am likely to be v limited as to when I can get in so may need to try a few to get an appt
