How many bikinis do you take on holiday?

Just wondering really after my mum commented that "surely 3 is too many for a week's holiday". I thought I was being quite contained!

6 for 1 week. Probably only wear 4. God only knows why I take the other 2.
Probably wouldn't take anymore for 2 weeks.

marriednotdead · 19/07/2012 21:49

2 because bra sized swimwear ain't cheap- standard stuff is not an option in my size!

Dsis only takes one to avoid multiple tan lines.

Itsnotforsale · 19/07/2012 22:01

2 for a fortnight, wash and dry alternately.

doglover · 19/07/2012 22:02

2 swimming costumes. My bikini days are well and truly over!!

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 19/07/2012 22:14

Probably about 5 or 6. But I don't like sitting through lunch in a wet bikini so change at least twice a day.

RedBlanket · 19/07/2012 22:24

14! I don't take that many tops!

I only own 3, but I'm a g cup so they're £££ ones from
Bravissimo. If I could pick up a couple for a fiver I probably would take more.
This year I'll be taking none as we're going to
South Wales and sunbathing opportunities will be thin on the ground.

ruralmumrants · 19/07/2012 22:39

As I have a small back and big boobs (ff) it means I pay for branded and very supportive costumes like freya and panache are great for specialist bras in fashionable non frumpy styles but they cost over £50 and so I collect them slowly and look for sale offers. You can't buy these sizes on the high street cheaply and even M&S don't cater for larger busted ladies. So I take 3 at the most but I'd love small boobs so I could grab a few cheap bikinis and I would pack loads! I have a tankini, 50s style but my halterneck was a mistake - holding up that weight gave me neck ache!!

greyvix · 19/07/2012 22:41

2 plus a swimsuit, as above, but for night time swims in my case.

pettyprudence · 20/07/2012 07:05

Since we now travel hand luggage only I take one swimsuit for one week. Before having to share my luggage allowance with ds I would have taken 2-3 but always ended up wearing the same, favourite one.

Bunbaker · 20/07/2012 08:20

One bikini and one swimsuit for a week for me. They get wet anyway and I wash them out every evening. I don't spend all day every day in one anyway.

OhEmGee24 · 20/07/2012 08:21

Rural - I'm jealous! I'm a 30c, it's crap. Bandeau bikinis make me look totally flat chested which is annoying coz I really like them! Just bought 2 halter neck ones of asos, I'm hoping they'll give me some sort of cleavage.

3 Bravissimo FFs for ten days in dubai last week .

BreakOutTheKaraoke · 20/07/2012 09:04

OhEmGee- I'm a 32B/30C depending on cut, and as I'm also a pear shape bandeaus and triangle bikinis make me look out of proportion, really awful. I also have quite wide boobs, so actual bra shapes fit me best- but there are barely any on the high street! I ended up buying this set, and a leopard print version they did earlier in the year. I also found a cute set in the La Senza sale, so am taking 3 for a week (one week to go!).

mumblechum1 · 20/07/2012 09:07

2 bikinis, 1 swimsuit, but as we always take villas miles away from any neighbours I don't need to worry what I look like. Grin

midori1999 · 20/07/2012 09:07

I usually take 4 and feel like that's too many. I usually have a favourite or two, which I wear more than the others, soI end up with at least two I don't wear.

However, despite thinking I'll just take two with me this time, I am seeing lots I like and will probably take 4 with me again. But they are so pricey, at this rate I'll spend more on bikinis than the entire rest of my holdiay wardrobe!

trixymalixy · 20/07/2012 09:10

One or two. How on earth do people manage to find so many that fit?!?!? Finding one is hard enough.

LimeLeafLizard · 20/07/2012 09:15

Finding a bikini / costume of any sort when you have large norks isn't easy either. Particularly if you also have a long body, a jelly belly and will be 14 weeks pregnant when you travel

I will be taking about 4 swim wear sets in total none of which fit me properly.

marge2 · 20/07/2012 09:21

Bikini - God forbid!!

1 swimming costume - I only own one. It spends pretty much all day with me in the pool though so it's not getting 'dirty'. It gets rinsed overnigh and hung up outside. They dry off in about ten minutes if you go somewhere hot.

Nobody gives a a shit what I look like or whether I wear the same thing every day.

NotAnArtist · 20/07/2012 09:28

I'm going away for a week in August, and I'm planning to take 8 or 9. I'll probably end up throwing in a couple more last-minute though, I took 10 for a week in January. It'll be a good mix of strapless/triangle/over the shoulder straps, and it's not like they take up much room in a suitcase!

irregularegular · 20/07/2012 09:32

14????

I'd no idea any ordinary person owned that many bikinis/swimsuits. I don't think either ever owned more than about three in a fit state at one time, so would only ever take 2-3. On the other hand, we never go on two week holidays where I would be wearing a bikini all the time. At most it would be a swim every day or two and I'd change in and out of it. I'm much more comfortable in clothes!

weasar · 20/07/2012 09:35

For a weeks holiday I'd probably take 3 bikinis, and if we were going to a waterpark or similar, I'd take a costume too (For fear of bikini flying off on scary slides etc!) Grin

landofsoapandglory · 20/07/2012 10:03

Just got back from a week in Lanzarote, last night. I took 3 , all the same style just different patterns. That way I didn't get any strap marks!

midori1999 · 20/07/2012 10:07

14 to fit me would be around £700 worth of bikinis at least. Shock

HazleNutt · 20/07/2012 10:28
  1. Bikinis are still kind of a luxury item for me and I'm not used to buying new ones until the old ones are worn out (says the woman who has bursting wardrobes and millions of shoes :o ). Probably have this idea from old times when I was already 32FF, but skint, so simply could not afford more than one. But then again, never felt the need for more than 2 either.
trixymalixy · 20/07/2012 12:19

I'd be interested in the nork size to no of bikinis relationship.

I'd probably take more if I could buy cheap ones on the high st, but being a 32g it costs a fortune to buy ones that fit!
