Help, my makeup bag is in desperate need of an overhaul and we are poorer than churchmice nowadays, so I could really do with your recommendations of ace cheapo beauty products.

In past times, when I had more disposable income, I loved Benetint and Posietint (any Benefit stuff really), Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturiser, Touche Eclat, Mac eyeshadow. I am in particular need of a new blusher / cheek tint, tinted moisturiser and fab gold / beige eyeshadow.

I have recently discovered Aldi's fake touche eclat and I am a convert, but I am not sure about trying the rest of their products in case they are rubbish. Has anyone else gone full-faced Lacura and not regretted it?

Tescos barbara Daly range is lovely, have a look at that - very affordable but good too :)

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 19/07/2012 12:27

Oh and Lacura, I wear moisturiser and day cream and its really good, never had any problems with it so yeah, highly recommend it :) Wasnt keen on the Lacura lip gloss though but the mascara is ok.

Itsgottabebags · 19/07/2012 12:28

I have the Lacura pressed powder and that's good. Have you got any pound shops near by? In the poundshops near me I have seen Revlon nail varnish, Cover Girl foundation, Rimmel eyeshadow quads, 3 Rimmel products in a pack, Miss Sporty makeup. Maybeline makeup including lip gloss and they have their own version which I have not tried called Chit Chat in one poundshop.

In terms of positint/benetint then Me Me in superdrug have dupes of these products. I love the moisture surge too and there are Garnier moisturisers that sink in as quickly. I got two last year for £3.99 together. I think it was the skin naturals range.

As for tinted moisturiser the natual collection one is pretty good for the price.

As for a gold and beige eye shadow have you tried Bourjois? They are quite often on 3 for 2 and are really good quality.

Just checked Tesco online and Barbara Daly stuff is 3-for-2 at the moment! If it is worth a go I am quite tempted to try the eyeshadow and blusher, and if my budget stretches to it some primer.

I think I will try the Me Me tints as well.

We do have a pound shop nearby, I never thought of looking in there for makeup, but I will now.

Have a look at 2True also in Superdrug OP.

Garner bb cream, 25 % off at sainsburys , so £7.50. Lovely on in lieu of foundation, light , SPF 15 and just like a tinted moisturiser.

thepeoplesprincess · 19/07/2012 17:23

Tesco's own dirt cheap waterproof mascara. It's in a black tube and it 1.50.

I bought it just to bung on at the gym, but it's so fabulous that I now wear it all the time. Even big nights out. It's just fucking fantastic, truly.

Dropdeadfred · 19/07/2012 17:25

Sleekmakeup.com. - eye rshadow palettes are brilliant

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/07/2012 17:28

Aldi is very good for powder and foundation.

I like the serum and the q10 restorative calcium night cream too.

QuinnFabray · 19/07/2012 17:41

Superdrug MUA blushers are pretty good for a pound. Their eye shadows too, I believe. Also Natural Collection stuff for £1.99.
The packaging is cheap, and it doesn't have the same luxurious feel as expensive stuff, but once it's on your face, no one can tell the difference.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/07/2012 17:52

Always check the freebies on magazines, they do really good offers sometimes. I got my lieghton denny varnish off a mazazine.

Money saving expert has details of which magazines have which offers etc.

The Time Delay range in Boots is on half price at the moment, so around the £5 mark. The moisturisers, serum, night creams get rave reviews on the Boots website, check them out.
Their 17 range of lipsticks get lots of 5 stars too.

Frog253 · 19/07/2012 19:49

Nivea tinted moisturiser is good and cheap (although no SPF so I don't use in the 'summer').

Havingkittens · 19/07/2012 22:56

The M&S Limited Collection lip and cheek stains are really good. Better than Benetint in my opinion and only £5 each. In fact they do some nice lipsticks too. Bourjois and Revlon lipsticks are nice too.

Loads of Make up Artists use the Sleek palettes and the Barry M pots are pretty good if you want something sparkly or metallic. If you can get to Inglot their eyeshadows are very good and cheap too.

I really rate Rimmel's Sexy Curves mascara but it's quite full on so depends on what you want from a mascara.

I also really like the Garnier BB cream but I do find it a bit greasy to use without powder.

One of the best pencil eyeliners I've found is the Jemma Kidd one, which they will be giving away one of three colours (I think) in next month's Elle. I think there's a free mascara with Marie Claire (?) this month but it may be Body Shop so not sure how good it is.

baw70 · 19/07/2012 23:50

Have you seen E.L.F. I've tried their blushers and eyeshadows and found them very good and very cheap. If you look on You Tube or Make Up Alley, there are reviews that you can read before you order. The website is:

lisaro · 19/07/2012 23:53

Don't touch the Barbara Daly mascara. I bought my teenage niece one when she forgot hers and it just gave her panda eyes.

Susieloo · 19/07/2012 23:54

No 17 BB cream is the best one I've tried and there have been a few!

Cremolafoam · 19/07/2012 23:57

Elf has been a revelation for me.

Burgoise blusher pots are lovely and fab value
Collection 2000 have a matt lip cream range called cream puffs. They are gorgeous and last hours on your lips, not drying imo
You can get loads of cheap eyeshadow pallets from superdrug, ie, Barry M, beauty uk, miss sporty etc and the colours are mainly decent. If you can use a primer under your eyeshadow, they won't budge- regardless of which brand they are.

Itsgottabebags · 20/07/2012 15:17

There's also Asda makeup!

Msarsebiscuit · 20/07/2012 15:31

I bought an M&S Limited Collection cheek and lip tint after HavingKittens recommended them and it's fantastic - have it on now and love it. Also love their liquid eyeliner, Sleek eyeshadow palettes, Bourjois Line Feutre eyeliner, Bourjois mascara and I Second nail varnish, Barbara Daly at Tesco cream eyeshadow pens and Rimmel nail varnish.

Havingkittens · 20/07/2012 17:33

I'm glad you like it Msarsebiscuit Smile

anniewoo · 20/07/2012 18:22

Avon mascaras free with Marie Claire. They have got great reviews in the fmag freebies thread. Barry M, Catrice and Essence make up brands cheap n cheerful. Good moisturiser Elave in Boots or Nivea

Scarredbutnotbroken · 20/07/2012 19:10

Buy all that you can in boots for the points and the £5 no7 vouchers - then u can get the nail varnish and pencils for a quid something each - works for me. I religiously only buy nappies etc in boots so I can spend the points on otherwise too expensive stuff Grin
