Does anyone know where I can buy clothing that has built in UV protection? Sure it's available somewhere but only managed to find the swimwear type so far.

TIA.

for adults or childrens ? Brands like Columbia and North Face do it so try outdoor shops like Blacks, Millets and Snow & Rock or Little Trekkers

Close weave cotton, long sleeves, wear hat, avoid midday sun if you can't find any uv gear

Is it necessary? I've always thought it might be a bit of a gimmick. I burn very very easily and have to take enormous care in the sun. I also love being outdoors and probably spend more time out in the sun than I should (given the opportunity!!)

But, I've never caught even a touch of sun through any kind of clothing.

How much UV protection do you need ? Sunsibility sell total protection clothing, but theres a lot out there that will give you a lot of protection.
I am very sun sensitive, and nerve damage in my arm makes it ultra sensitive, so I do use a sun sleeve on that if I want to wear short sleeves (and 50+ sun screen), but wear cotton tunics with long sleeves and high necks if I'm in the sun and that works well
