Getting what you want in hairdressers.

I've always had a problem with telling hairdressers what I want, and have some disastrous cuts over the years. I have got better in the last few years, and more forceful (half the problem I have found is hairdressers telling you what you should have, rather than what you want), and tend to take in pictures of what I want.

Now, I have a really really important thing next week, and need to get my hair done before it, and absolutely not have it go wrong. What I am struggling with it explaining what colour I want it. I currently have blonde highlights, but the last few times I have got them they are darker than I wanted, sort of duller and just not the shade I'm sure I asked for!

I want lovely golden blonde highlights, not yellow, not dark blonde, not ash or platinum. Is there something I'm missing that I'm not saying, as I just don't ever get that?

I'm only getting a trim as growing hair long, so hopefully won't have to worry about that.

Any tips?

Pictures & photos.

Yes, the style may not be the same and you don't look the same as the model but colours are easier to match than styles.

However, do ask the hairdresser beforehand if she can match it or whether with your current hair colour it will be slightly different as that's possible.

Also - personal recommendations. Any friends in same town that can recommend their colourist?

Failing that could walk around until you see someone whose hair you love and ask them where they get it done!! Hmm Grin
