Shoe and bag help

I'm going to a wedding next month and have just bought this Coast dress in the sale (which will look okay as long as I don't put on a single ounce in the next couple of weeks).

I'm a bit stuck for what colour bag and shoes to wear. My initial instinct was nude shoes, but would that look too matchy with the dress?

I'm unconvinced by the red shoes/bag on the website, and don't particuarly want bag and shoes to match. I do, however, want a clutch.

So, any thoughts on colours? I am really rubbish at this!

metallics like pewter, gold or bronze would work or black (may be boring). I would pick out one of the darker colours in the dress i.e the dark green , dark plum or fuschia?

I would pick out the berry red off the dress, for an oversize clutch then go either berry, black or gold with shoes.. Ver similar to smellylittleorange suggestions tbh..

I hadn't thought of metallics - thank you! I also really like the idea of a large clutch - all the better to carry my kitchen sink bits in.

It's back to the shops for me :)

I would say pick something to highlight the purple tones because the fabric has that "dusky" look about it.

Oooh, some very lovely links :)

I thinks I'm going to have to take the dress round the shops with me though, because I keep remembering the colours differently. In my head, the colours are warmer than they actually are. I've never really suited purple, but a purple bag or shoes would be a safe way to 'wear' it.

Thanks for all your ideas and suggestions - I was drawing a complete blank.
