Thomas Sabo (you can see a pic of what one looks like with charms on in the black box near the top)

Links of London (I can't find a pic of one with lots of charms on but this pic shows you how the charms fit onto it)

Who cares? Do you like them? If so buy one. Don't worry about other peoples opinions.

My work here is done.

nappyaddict · 14/07/2012 22:21

It's not for me :) It's for a friend but she is quite style conscious so I'm not sure if she would like it.

She can pretend. Its a gift Smile

tiredteddy · 14/07/2012 22:22

I have a THomas Sabo and I absolutely love it. It makes me happy and I don't care what other people think! If you like them get one!

Viperidae · 14/07/2012 22:24

I think they're lovely. I have a TS black bead bracelet that DH bought me with 2 charms on from DCs.

DD has a charm one with lots on collected over the last few years for different events so it has special meaning for her.

As Coco said, we like ours enough that I wouldn't care what anyone else thought, that's what counts.

monkeysmama · 14/07/2012 23:23

I have a Thomas Sabo one with lots of charms from my dd. I love it because of that but it's not what I would describe as "stylish". Notonthehighstreet have some nice pieces and it's worth having a look in the sales for Kenneth Jay Lane who does more fashionable jewellery if that's what you're after.

Pinot · 15/07/2012 10:31

If you're spending that sort of money, I would ask her what she likes.

But in general, I always agree with coco.

greyvix · 15/07/2012 12:25

It goes without saying to get a gift receipt!

Meggles76 · 15/07/2012 13:23

Can you surreptitiously check out the sort of jewellery she normally wears to give you a clue as to whether or not this would be her sort of thing?
I have seen charm bracelets being loved and hated on here. I personally love them. Have a tan leather bracelet with silver girl and boy charms and a murano glass heart charm. It represents my lovely children and I wear almost daily. I also have another with letter charms on it that represents husband and I. I am oblivious to what anyone else thinks!

valiumredhead · 15/07/2012 13:27

Links is too expensive to be tacky plus they come so beautifully gift wrapped it's worth the risk Grin

Zhaghzhagh · 15/07/2012 13:30

Sorry, but tacky.

Itsgottabebags · 15/07/2012 15:42

What about one of these OP. I have one as I don't personally like charm bracelets I got mine very very cheap in the HN sale a while back

mrscumberbatch · 15/07/2012 16:26

valium - lol @ too expensive to be tacky.

Favourite thing I've ever heard is "It's bloody expensive to look this tacky y'know"

So I live by it.

That said, I despise Links bracelets and the like. Think their day has been and gone and that it's vastly overpriced and won't hold it's value at all.

BUT

I'm in the trade so I am woefully biased and difficult.

Zhaghzhagh and Coconutty

What is it about them that makes you think they are tacky?

Is it the coloured charms because I've seen a few people wearing these sorts of bracelets and they have only bought the silver charms to put on them.

I don't like them - does it have to be a bracelet? - Alex Monroe does some lovely necklaces.

I love dragonflies but that looks like a dead moth!

GetOrfMoiiLand · 16/07/2012 18:00

Do you know if she likes charm bracelets?

Because if a much loved friend bought me one I would be a bit gutted as I can't stand them, but wouldn't be able to exchange it for fear of upsetting her.

I think if you are going to spend that much money you need to find out if it is something she would really like.

shrimponastick · 16/07/2012 18:05

I don't like charm bracelets. I would hope that my friends would know me well enough to see that I don't ever wear them.

Check out your friend's taste in jewellery first - maybe go and do a bit of window shopping and see what her reaction to them is?
