Sweat proof foundation?

Sookeh · 13/07/2012 16:28

I'm currently on the hint for a new foundation for pale skin that is lasting and doesn't sweat off.

I tend to get quite a sweaty chin and forehead and any foundation I have doesn't survive it. I'm currently using the 25 hour one.

Any help would be so appreciated as I just cannot be arsed to apply make up more than once a day.

Revlon Colorstay in Ivory is Brazil-proof and very cheap and one of the best foundations I've ever used. (And I'm a Chanel junkie - their foundations just aren't as good.)

Estée Lauder double wear is great - good coverage and lasts well although think it leads to more breakouts if I wear it a lot.
I've also tried the long lasting channel (can't remember the name) but although it doesn't break me out, it's not as good IMO ( goes on strangely, not as good coverage and doesn't last as well)

I have family in Greece and have had dreadful sweaty face wedding guest issues - I would use a good primer underneath foundation. I use smashbox primer and that's budge-proof.
Am certainly going to try revlon colorstay though!

I've heard of Smashbox. Can you get it in the UK?

I use a product called NEAT Face Saver (got it on Amazon). It's a gel that stops persperation on your face and drastically reduces shine. I always use it during the summer if I have an event and it just smoothes on under foundation - it has a slightly tightening feel to it when applied and my make-up stays put all day - I use No 7 intellegent colour which is very sheer and usually wears off within hours but it honestly lasts all day over the Face Saver - worth a try.

Smashbox: yes I get it in my local Debenhams. Just had a google and apparently Boots now stocks it.

Feffion I like the idea of that!!

Shiseido Sun Protection Liquid foundation is amazing. Comparable in staying power to Estee Lauder Double Wear, and just as good coverage, but feels much lighter and natural. It's basically very water resistant. Designed for use on the beach/by the pool. Colours are light too.

Mineral powder foundation. Made of titanium and/or zinc oxide so has sun protection properties also. Good mineral make-up will contain no parabens or other chemical nasties.

I use the lily lolo brand of mineral make-up because it is free from bismuth oxychloride which can be drying and an irritant, but there are other brands that don't have it in aswell.

If you are interested check out the Lily Lolo website for advice.

Oh and it's water proof too!

Clinique have a new matt make-up which is fantastic - it replaced the old 'super fit make-up' which was discontinued a couple of years ago. I am a menopausal 49 year old and this keeps my face looking fairly fresh when I get my sweaty hot flushes.

polyhymnia · 14/07/2012 13:09

Hmm, my problem is thatIi do sweat, specially round my forehead, in hot conditions but I don't like, or need, makeup with any sort of real coverage - settles in lines, makes me look a lot older, etc.

So Doublewear, Colorstay, or any matte makeup is absolutely out for me. I wear a very light coat of tinted moisturiser (currently Laura Mercier or By Terry) at most.

I really need to reduce the sweating in the first place, so looks as if the Face Saver product is the one to try and am going to order some.

I'm also going to have a look at the Shiseido Liquid Foundation though.
