So bittersweet chocolate is actually black then??. I look like a witch and I washed it out after only 10 mins. At home, wash wash and wash some more??.

I've heard anti-dandruff shampoo can help fade the colour but I don't know if there is any truth in that or if the change would make much of a difference. If you really don't like it, I think you'll have to go to a hairdresser and get it stripped off.

For gods sake, had to drive to large supermarket, buy colour stripper and now waiting before I can start again. Top tip, always get a shade lighter than you want and put Vaseline around your hairline and on ears!! And avoid colour Xxl.

oh dear, you are not having much luck. Perhaps you will have to leave it now. Have you stepped outdoors with a mirror to have a good look at it in the light? Might not be as bad as you think. You do have to be careful with brown. If you want dark brown, you need to get mid brown IME and if you want mid brown, you need a light brown IFYSWIM. I don't think you should risk stripping it again. Better get a hairdresser to fix it if you think you can't live with it. Good luck with it

Someone on here suggested slathering on the olive oil to remove semi perms,i used it to get ou remains of a bright red and it did seem to get some of it out and it moisturises as well, put it on and wrap cling film round your head for an hour then shampoo with any luck most of the colour should come out, barking i know but hey any port in storm when having a hair mare (grin)

ZZZenAgain · 13/07/2012 13:14

that sounds worth a try and wouldn't harm the hair any further

cleo I used bittersweet chocolate on Tuesday and its made my hair black too!! So annoyed I was using mid brown semi-permenant before the xxl. Dont know why I decided to try this, off to try the olive oil tip above too. Hope it works...

Also I still have staining round my hairline and back of my neck grrr

I used colourb4 again and the extra rinsed in shower until gingerish again, now have a temp (6-8 washes) mid brown and it's much better! Have to give it some extra conditioning over next couple of weeks. What a palava!!
